He's had an excellent season, not sure he is £17m but he is relatively young and an international, should do a very good job. Anyone here still willing to laugh when I say we shouldnt consider bids of less than £4m for Wilko?

Decent signing for Liverpool and some decent cash for Portsmouth on top...it'll certainly help them out a little.
Wilko - nothing under £5 million, but I don't want him to go anyway, got better as the season went on and will continue to improve next season.

Don't quite see why Liverpool need Johnson, always thought Arbeloa was pretty good.

In fairness to them, they've only paid £10 mill more than he is worth.

RVD you need to get used to silly money being spent mate, who could we bring in for £4m that is considerably better than Wilko? If Liverpool are going to pay £17m for Johnson, if Madrid will pay £80m for ladyboys then we need to accept that silly money is the norm.

Until Wilkinson learns to competently control and distribute a football, rest assured there will be no-one prepared to pay anywhere £4 million.

Wilko is brillinat, he just needs to be able to control his aggresive side, a balance between the brilliant agressive tackles, hard work and sheer determination, as well as passion for the club, and get rid of the downright stupid tackles when he gets P'd off.

Had a good 2009 but his passing is woeful. We need 2 new full backs desperately. You can't kick the ball in the general direction of a player, needlessly concede possession and expect to win games away from home in the Prem. That's been our problem on our travels and he's been the main culprit.
Don't get me wrong, the lad is a good defender but 4 million pounds is nonsense.

In times when inflation is so low, this is a ridiculous sum of money for any full-back, let alone one who was deemed not good enough by Chelsea; has had one good season at a team near the bottom, and until injuries was behind Wes Brown (a centre back) in the England set-up.
It's frightening to think of some of the amounts we are being quoted for our targets.
