ashton has spent the entire summer training with john green.
he was very coy throughout the interview - but re upson i think he was honest. we aim to keep him but if we get a decent bid he'll go. 30 years old, 2 yrs left on his contract and yet to sign a new one. anything above £12m and i'd say hes gone.

Streuth, that's a pretty big shift! Did Talksport follow up their story from this morning at all?

That's one helluva story, I wonder how much truth there is in it?

I'd say this makes an Ashton move look more likely if anything. If we are willing to pay cash, I'm sure the WH owners would be very happy to take it, and if it prevented Zola from having to lose players he sees as more important, I'm sure he'd be happy too.

I'm sure there would be bigger takers for Parker and a lot of their players. Tomkins maybe left of centre enough to bid for? I doubt it though as he is the best young centre back in the league imo.

The fans aren't happy and reckon it's rubbish.

If West Ham are really in the crap to tht degree, you'd think they'd be very keen to shift Ashton, a player they obviously think hey can live without, instead of a Cole or an Upson.
Maybe they'll start proposing to subsidise a % of his wage if they get even more desperate?

I don't have any football ITK but I do some work with an Icelandic guy based in the UK. He reckons that the word from Reykjavik is that Straumur are dead men walking. I would be interested to see whether any of our Icelandic Oatcake members have any info.

not great - only really got behind us once. any side with a cutting edge would have put 3 or 4 past them. they cleared two off the line as it was. plenty of industry but no real class apart from the new lad in midfield. milijas or something?? they will struggle as we were there for the taking.

It is my strong personal belief that the following is true 1) Ashton isnt fit yet, the deal at Stoke would result in an instant drop in base salary, he`s not ready to play yet so we have probably agreed with him (on the sly) to stay at WH until the end of the window, he will be getting a lot more wage there. 2) West Ham want rid of him, costing so much money in rehab costs, they need the money, he is not in Zola`s plans etc. 3) They are screwed and they are desperate for the £ and also getting big earners off the books. 4) Stoke are probably happy enough not to pay him a wage at all yet Its business lads. I cant for the life of me see Dean Ashton still being a West Ham player by Sept 1st. I feel his is more stoke bound now than ever.

From the MOTD highlights, Nenad Milijas looks like an excellent aquisition. Wolves also have the likes of Michael Kightly and Kevin Doyle to return to full fitness, so it'll be interesting to see if they get any more cutting edge when they return. Oh, and not to mention the return from injury of 'Big Chris' Iwelumo - he'll save 'em ;-)

a good bet in my eyes is still WHU for the drop, I have looked at the take over and its a load of bollocks. Without going into the detail it could all fall apart very eaisly and leave WHU in the administration the they narrowly missed in spring. The club need investement and this short term solution will not hold up financially!

Are you Peter Jones or Theo Paphitis?

They brought the club at the the last minute to stave off administaration thus loosing millions on their investment. This was with a view to stabilising the club thus protecting their investment with a view to selling it off asap, to give them the best chance of maximising their return. However, no one is looking like buying them and the company/consortium that brought west ham are in dire finacial shit to and may fold themselves. Thus putting WHU in administration or serious trouble at least! I would like to say that you are a prick and know fuck all, as you dont need them to publish their accounts to know any of this.
