What's your fave? I appreciate we'll get some faux-expert Glenmorangie+ types on here trying to make themselves seem as rich and sophisticated as possible, but still... Jacobite for me. A proper rough, violent sensation when you drink it. Proper kick. Makes you take notice, and under a tenner a bottle. Fucking bob on. Other that that.............. ............................ Laphroaig. A beautifully smooth single malt. What a treat that is, but whereas I normally like my whisky to burn... You can just tell this is quality (and expensive) from the moment you sniff it, it's like silk.

some of the cheaper blended whiskys are decent. It doesn't have to be expensive to be enjoyable. Got a bottle of cask strength Edradour which is fantastic, not a great deal of taste but the warm feeling you get after is (almost) worth £60 a bottle. I just sip the stuff - it should last another year at this rate. For something different try this......... www.royalmilewhiskies.com/product.asp?pf_id=0010000023541The whisky connoisseurs think it's wank but I love the stuff. £25 a bottle is good value as it is very drinkable!

I don't drink but I tried some of the Laphroaig up in Scotland and was surprised by it. Like You say its smooth and doesn't burn. I still didn't like the taste but its the best Whisky I've ever tasted.

Jamesons for me, which is actually I suppose, for the pedants amongst us, spelled whiskEy Anyone get hold of any of that homemade stuff somebody was flogging in Stoke about 15 years ago? Had a cork in the top and was a fiver a bottle I think, rumour was it gave a few folk temporary blindness My old fella got me a bottle, a mate and me (both quite hardened boozers at the time) got through it after a session in a pub in Fareham, it was pretty strong stuff that's for sure

Close your eyes and imagine what someone would do with money, if they'd never had money. Taa-daahh!!! The breadsticks on the bar just set the scene off for me.

My brothers got a few in his "bar" (named The Britannia) in his garden, you whisky buffs may recognise a few. Thats the best shed I've ever seen ;D that's only about a 1/3 of it, it also has a pool table, table top football and a projector with screen and sky sports, also a couple of double sofas that fold down as bed settee's, the jammy git. You can spend all night in there without messing the house up.

It was a bit of a family gathering, bbq going with jacuzzi and fire pit outside, we were inside watching SSN as it was the day of the West Ham game

Not got around to trying too many types of Whiskey yet as I'm only 20 lol, but out the ones I've tried southern comfort is the best. This is out of Jack Daniels, Bells and one or two others like Famous Grousse or whatever its called.
It's one of those things though, whiskey tends to cost a lot relatively speaking, so it's something that I only find a new one I like on the off chance of someone else having it in and then me having a glass or something.
Anyone tried methylated spirits as a cheaper alternative? lol
