Sorry, it may have been posted yesterday but I was pissed off with the post match idiots, two guys reporting from the game made reference to Stoke fans going off/ being already on their hols in Magaluf. Nothing against the place but it was stated by the BBC reporters in such a belittling manner, as if we were all simpletons.
Normally not arsed by things like this but it bugged me because they wouldn't say it about their beloved 'big four'
Knob heads. Rant over

I only heard a commentator say that the players had already gone on holiday, when we were 3-0 down.

The fact that our players emerged from the tunnel in flip flops rather than football boots kind of gave way our interest in the fixture.

I disliked the way that the media seemed to think we cared about the result, EG, "Stoke's despair and disappointment".

Read the match report in the Sun's football section. What a joke that is!
Arsenal were far superior to us, as you would expect, but that report is ludicrous and also contains yet another dig at our "style" of play.

What do you expect? The ever so gracious NOTW did a preview on every Prem game. Did the usual "Player to Watch" - of course this was Delap (YAWN). Then the following section was "Value for Money" - to which they put "If you want value, best stay away from the Britannia next season" Compare this with Hull City's "Hard to argue that a team that has beaten Tottenham, Arsenal and drawn to Liverpool is not value for money" Shall we tell em?

Better to propagate the myth that we are one dimensional sluggers and bullies I say.
We are surely favourites for the drop with only Burnley looking likely to struggle more than us!

davejohnno to be fair i thought the report was ok the bit you're referring to said "It is probably fair to say that the travelling Stoke fans saw more beautiful football in those first 45 minutes than they had witnessed all season at the Britannia stadium" which you can't really deny...Arsenal were brilliant yesterday and thats why we lost.virtually everyone else would have lost as well,no disgrace to us at all.
And to balance it he also said "Twelfth place for TP's team is the clubs best finish since 1975 and they did it on the back of strength, discipline, organisation and resilience"
I agree that in general over the season we have had a right to complain about our media coverage but i think that this is just looking for something to complain about unnecessarily, especially as the BBC last night WERE referring to the players being on holiday NOT the fans.
let's just keep the complaining to times when it's justified and this isn't one of them otherwise other teams will start to see us as just fans who complain, whinge and look for excuses

After this season I dont give a flying fuck.
The lads and ourselves have put more than a fair shift in and we deserve the utmost praise. Yesterday was always going to be difficult but we've more than warranted our mid table place.
What we need to do is go about our business as usual, improve and start again in August. We can all enjoy our summer.
Next year I suspect we'll be about 5th favourites to go down so they'll probably leave us alone a bit which is a shame because I think it has helped us this year.
Anyone heard much of Quinn this weekend?

No complaints from me Mills. Let them keep doing it.
It plays right into our hands, makes the opposition change the way they play against us and gets our backs up to make the support for the lads second to none.
Arsenal are masters at playing well when it doesn't matter and we were on the receiving end of a lesson. We were at our worst but didn't disgrace ourselves despite the final score.
The press can say what they like for me, but some of the player ratings were very harsh. Wilko and Whelan had excellent games for us and Fuller was a handful everytime he got the ball.
As for beautiful football...it counts for nothing. If results are unimportant, then entertainment is the next most important thing, and I have been royally entertained in most fixtures at the Brit this season.

davejohnno you're spot on about the player ratings bit to be fair!! no-one over about 6 i think it was but that seems pretty standard for the Sun,don't appreciate that sometimes just because you got done by an awesome it doesn't necessarily mean all your players were shit! as you say Wilko and Whelan were class, Pugh was decent as well.
actongate i meant for excuses for our receiving poor reports in the press.far too many moans on here over the season about bad coverage when quite simply it was right, people asking why were last on MOTD for instance when to be fair it's cps it was a crap match. i would rather we be seen as balanced fans who appreciate the game rather than people who just complain unfairly when we at times have deserved criticism.just makes you seem like less of a sore loser

mills,
I agree to a point. There are far too many sensitive souls who want to jump all over people for as much as breathing against Stoke in the wrong tone or suchlike. Whether we're last on MOTD etc etc and how Lineker takes his tone when talking about us etc etc.
I think its fair to question a newspaper for pointing that Rory Delap is our best and most dangerous player - blindly because of his long throws. It plainly is'nt the case.
I think its fair to criticise a newspaper for labelling us one dimensional and pointing out that value for money at the Brit is virtually zero - then pointing to another club and saying they are value for money because they beat Tottenham, Arsenal and drew to Liverpool - when we did the same and have finished the season 5 places and ten points better off than them.
That is before you mention the grotesque abuse we've had off Talksport all season and some of their "presenters".
Its all about balance.

acton i agrre and to be fair to MOTD you have to remember Lawro said he thought we had nothing to worry about back in Feb, Hansen "I'm a massive fan", and Lineker "You'll get no-one knocking you on here Tony" Talksport doesn't even count anyway,it's unfair in our disagreement for you to pull a comedy show on me!! how can i compete with that

You ask the average Arsenal fan if theyve enjoyed watching their team as much as the average Stoke fan,
Youdont see any empty seats at Stoke with 20 mins to go.
