Does anyone know if/how the Alton Towers height restrictions apply to adults as well as children, and is there any flexibility? I've suddenly realised I might fall foul of those if I take the kids and want to go on rides myself (I do!!). Thanks

Cheers Shell, that's got a lot of useful info. The girth restriction is scary, you're allowed to be 52-54 inches round! I'm ok on that one anyhow. I just found this too www.towerstimes.co.uk/parkinfo/height.htmSo it looks like I'd be ok on the kiddie rides but probably not the scary ones

Nothing scary about Oblivion at all. The car ride there is worse!

I went to Alton Towers on the last bank holiday (4 weeks monday) and i saw Dappy from N Dubz - Got a pic as well Good day out and im normally a pussy on rides but i went on all the big ones. Rita was the bomb, The flying one was wankable. The oblivion is not bad at all because the thrill is very short whereas the build up is a bitch. Have fun when you go Sal x

One thing i thought was quite strange is the longest i waited for a ride was 30 mins and that was twice max.

I would have thought you would be fine, as the harnesses strap in your torsos - not limbs. The heaght restrictions surely just work on the presumption that people of that size will have a suitable size body to strap in.
Dunno though; my guess would be that you will beable to ride (worth a phonecall beforehand I reckon).

That's what I'm hoping too and it would make sense, we'll probably go anyway but I'll ring first just to get an idea what I'll be allowed on. It's really funny thinking the twins are tall enough to go on everything but their mum isn't anymore, this is the wrong way round! ;D Cheers oc, I'll PM you when we know.

Rides just don't scare me one bit these days, i'm a bit gutted they lose their magic when you're not absolutely bricking it before hand. Although summit plummit at blizzard beach in Florida did get the nerves up a bit

I'm too tall for some of them... I went on Spinball and Submission anyway last time I went and got extreme hip cramp on both of them. Love Nemesis. Still the best.

That's why I never go to themeparks. To tall.
Once went to Lightwater Valley and they had a ride called the rat. (snigger)
Anyway, I spent the entire 3-5 minutes swearing like an Irishman with tourettes 'cos me knees were getting battered to fuck my the stupid little car we were in.
Never again.
