Can't say I've seen a fantastic amount of him, but from what I have seen, can't say I think he is any better than Shawcross. Doesn't have fantastic pace and just hoofs it most of the time. Very ordinary in my opinion.

Shawcross inherited a fantastic mentor this season, in Abdy. I believe that Shawcross will one day thank the likes of Tone and Abdy for his progression and development, when playing for England

Cahill best Bolton player this season by all accounts. IMO all three are good players. Evans is a cracking player.

I know Bolton went for Gary Cahill ( £5M ), instead of Shawcross.
Both great buys, only time will tell who got the best deal in the long term.

I had this discussion with a mate who is shit season ticket holder and he agrees Shawcross is better than Evans but with the two coming through the ranks at the same time he agreed to let one of them go and that one was our Ryan and he recalled Evans from sunderland.

Whilst Shawcross continues to improve, and is a great player for us, Evans is better in my opinion. Didn't Man U reportedly turn down £10m from Roy Keane at Sunderland for Evans a year or two back?

Man Utd offered Shawcross a new contract but he left for us as he wanted first team football. I remember looking at the "Red Cafe" Manure forum at the time and quite a few of the fans were pissed off they'd let him go. One of them "guaranteed" that Shawcross would be worth £20m within a few years! Let's hope he's right!

I've got a horrible feeling that Villa will be in for him. They need a defender and he ticks all of their boxes.

Makes sense IMO, both are quality players who will both play for England. Fergie couldn't keep hold of both and Shawcross wanted 1st team football, whereas Evans was prepared to wait Would Shawcross have developed as much if he had stayed at ManUtD?
