Taylor says Stoke’s fans also deserve some credit for helping keep their team in the Premier League.
He added: “I went to the home game against Manchester City and there is no doubt that the Stoke supporters made a difference.
“It was a real throwback to the days of supporters getting behind their team and letting the opposition know there was only one side going to win that game.'
What an atmosphere that was - you could visibly see the citeh players backing off ;D

Does anyone know why Tone isn't a member? I read the other day that he didn't think that the LMA does enough for the managers of clubs at the bottom of the pyramid and puts too much emphasis on the big clubs.

Whilst I'm not sure that he will actually win it, as I think Ferguson & Moyes will probably pip him to it; if he does win it - and you couldn't say 'he doesn't deserve it' - then it's something that should be celebrated and applauded as much as Matthews & Banks winning the player awards in the past.
He has dragged this club by the bootlaces into the Premiership and kept them there, finishing - almost certainly - midtable none the less, in his inaugural season in the top flight. He's faced criticism from his peers, the national press, pundits and yet, you simply cannot argue with what he has achieved.
If he does somehow win, it will be a dignified riposte/two fingers, to the aforemenntioned critics.

Other teams have got promoted and stayed up in their first season. Are we considered such a shit club that in our case the manager deserves an award for achieving this? Just another way of looking at it.

I actually agree with your sentiments Starkiller, just shows you what damage those 23 years out of the top flight did for our reputation!

He's done well, but as Starkiller says, it's not a unique achievement. he's also had considerably more to spend than several others in the past.
However, I'm still delighted he's kept us up - as I said he would - and that he's done better than many would have expected.
Personally, I'd vote for Zola.
His club was under threat of massive fines, possible relegation His players were demoralised and playing like strangers when he arrived They were a team on the slide His first few results weren't anything to write home about They're now within a decent shout of Europe
All this is his first season in MANAGEMENT, not just his first in the premiership.
Yes, Pulis has done well, but keeping us in this division is, after all, the very minimum that he's handsomely paid to do. Zola has done what I'd hoped Pulis would do.
I'm not knocking him, just pointing out the obvious to those who refuse to see it.

Just another way of looking at it. ;D Nice point. However i would guess that perhaps the last time someone stopped up and did so well i think it was George Burley at Ipswich ..... how he didn't get it that year i'm not sure EDIT - i just read it and spotted Steve Coppell ;D
