Remember all those knobs who told you at the beginning of the season that we'd go straight back down?
I hope those words come back to them in their sleep and make them choke! ;D

Yea one lad said to me at start of the season 'will you still be wearing that top when you go back down?' i said 'course i will, i will buy the new one aswell'
some people are just pure glory hunters i bet if his team lost (manure) his top would be in his draw packed away

I remember standing in the CO-OP in Clayton and some woman saying "Well done" to me as I was wearing my top but the bloke behind me in the queue said "Yeah, but you'll be going straight back down". I couldn't help but argue with him, turned out he was a bitter fail fan

Yep. Had this myself a few times after we got promoted, from Glorycunters, people who follow football and even people who don't follow football !
"Yeah but you'll be going straight back down again"
It annoyed me at the time and it annoys me even more now because you can rest assured these knobs won't even remember they said it.
Fook em.

Got it all the time from patronising know it alls.
They thought they were doing us a favour by preparing us for inevitable disappointment, in reality they did us a favour by hardening us for the battles to come.

One of my mates (Who is an Inter Milan supporter no less!) told me confidently that we wouldn't win a game all season. Then after we beat Villa he said "You didn't win that game, Villa lost it. If you stay up I'm quitting smoking."
I'm going to buy him his first nicorette patch. After that he's on his own!

I'm owed £20 from a fail fan and £20 from a fellow Stokie who betted me that Kitson would score more than fuller! ;D

There are a quite a few Stoke supporters who need to offer their apologies to Sir tony. Some of the abuse he's received on here and praise and grumble this season has been scandalous.

While not a knob, I was at least 51% certain we'd get relegated at the beginning of the season. And I think a few other Stokies secretly thought the same. Which makes our survival all the sweeter to be honest. Was anyone THAT sure we'd stay up?

Yes mate, I confidently predicted a 12th-15th finish, although we may even exceed that.
The prem is over-hyped, take away the top 4 and anyone is beatable at home, take away the top 8 say and there are a lot of wank teams. We may not be the most gifted but we certainly have more than enough to stay up.

Having spoken to a Villa fan at the start of the season he put it to me that Stoke deserved to go down because we play 'Anti-football' I proceeded to tell him to get to fuck..we then went on and stole 4 points from them...good times.

Which makes our survival all the sweeter to be honest. Was anyone THAT sure we'd stay up? My point was that a lot of people seemed to take great pleasure in telling me that we'd go down though. I'd get singled out if I wore my Stoke top...

Mrs Malvern. From the moment we were promoted she has been saying "It won't last long" and one of her favourites, "don't get the kids into Stoke, you won't be doing them a service you'll be giving them a sentence". Then about a week or two ago she started to say things like "Can I go to the match as well?". No chance woman.

I remember early in the season, after we lost three of the first four games, a ManUre fan approached me and said, "you have to admit you're going down now." They're so short-sighted.

I said from the moment we went up that we would finish 17th, sell ok wrong but its still not going down is it.
It was the same when I agrued with fellow Stokies in the pub at Barnsley in September 2006 (we drew 2-2 after throwing away a 2-0 lead) that TP was a good manager and with him we can discount relegation and therefore we can at least know in the knowledge that we may just may finish in a top 6 spot.
So my faith has always been with TP and with Stoke surviving the premier. But yes I will admit in January 1998 to be one of those Stokies screaming for Coates out and not entering the stadium until the 15th minute of the game against Bradford. For that at the time I was right.
But hey ho PC and all at Stoke have done bloody brilliant and it makes you damn proud to be a Stoke City Fan

i have a decent sized bet with a sunderland fan at work who laughed in my face when i said we'd finish above them.... only slightly spoiled by the tenner that said David Healy would not score in the Premier League this season. He's only scored once, and it had to be against us!

I do indeed remember and I have sent a letter to Mr Silver from Mirror just as I promised him at the begining of the season. Oh it feels good to prove them wrong lol Goarn Stoke
This is my letter Just a little letter to your goodself as promised at the beginning of the season when every man and his dog (apart from Stoke Fans of course) said we would go straight back down to say STOKE ARE STAYING UP. You may have forgotten our correspondence at the beginning of the season and you did quote that you hoped I was right and would write to you at the end of the season, or words to those effect. Well here I am Mr Silver and I am very glad in fact Im estatic that we will be back next year and we defied all the critics, especially Mr Lawrenson and Mr Linnekaar. What a fantastic way to make them pundits eat humble pie and in the politest way, as you were not too rude although you did get my goat a little, offer you a small slice with a cherry on the top! And not so polite in saying Linnekaar and Lawrenson KISS MY ARSE. Yours in Sport Elaine Frampton FOREVER STOKE
