I want to believe Tommy Sorensen is great but I just don't see it. I think he's good but just not great. Am I alone? ???

you're not alone and I also think that he would leave should the 'right' deal come along.
Still love the guy though, has been very good this season.

i can personally see sorro staying here for the rest of his career.
the only area that he has been dodgy has been communicating with his centrebacks, over when to come for crosses etc. and another half season with the same 2 CB's and that will clear right up.
defence is all about a consistent line-up. and i think we're getting pretty close to that.

Sorro has been pretty damn good, bar a few performances. I dont think he would go, unless money turned his head. He seems pretty much part of the spirit that flows through the Brit dressing room.
If however, Sorro was to go, then I'd love to see Joe Hart of Man Citeh come in. A huge prospect.

I like him a lot but wasn't sure for the first few games, it wasn't until the Boro away game that he gave us a performance.
He cost us points at Everton but wouldn't want to sell him.

I love Sorro, but he is a bit inconsistent. Makes a few too many mistakes for the prem. Still, i really dont think theres anyone better for us.

just think of who we could have had instead. We have a BRILLIANT keeper.

Well - 11 clean sheets is no mean feat in this league (including against Liverpool).
Tommy clearly loves this club (did anyone see else his lap of honour after Blackburn) and he, Ryan and Abdy are the backbone of the team.
As long as we stay in the prem I can see him staying. He has said he needs to be playing regularly in the prem to keep his place as Denmark's no 1 in the run up to the World Cup, and hopefully Stoke will offer him that. Can't see him going to a "bigger" club and risk sitting on the bench (esp after he left Villa to come here for regular football).
Rock on Tommy!!!

I reckon he's proved he is worth what we paid. ;D
But seriously he's had his wobbly moments as have keepers like Van Der Sar, Reina and Cech this season.
For me he has done an excellent job and I hope he will be around for another few seasons.

Dodgy first game at Bolton. Since then a couple of noticably bad games - Villa and Everton away. At Villa he had a knock on the head early in the game and he was rightly subbed at half time. I put the Everton game down to delayed reaction to the knock on the head at Villa a couple of weeks earlier!
What Sorro brings to Stoke is not just that he is a good keeper but he has passion and a larger than life presence behind the defence. He is a key part in the way our defence has become so good since it really gelled in the second half of the season.

The first goal at Sunderland was a really bad one to concede, I thought -the same goes for Ronaldo's opener at OT. The first at WHL too, maybe. Generally he's been excellent -I like him- but he has made a few mistakes.

I agree completely with this Eddy. Pretty much all the keepers in the Prem have had a few dodgy spells this season, the key to a quality defence is a consistent line-up, I don't see any reason why he can't be here for a good few more years to come. Also agree with Fornside's point that, he is a fantastic character to have in the team and his rapport with the fans is also superb.

Can't believe some of this, Tommy has been brilliant this season, he has had two bad games at Man ure and Everton and the results were not all down to him.
He is assurred, calm under pressure a good shot stopper and great on crosses, we won't get much better.
As for Joe Hart, he is not better than Tommy, yeah he may be in 5 or 6 years time but not now.
Along with Abdy, Tommy has been buy of the season

He got beaten by a brilliant header, that Shearer himself would have been proud of. For me his only bad game was away at Everton. Luckily he got it out of his system in a game we probably werent going to get anything out of anyway. Quite honestly I dont now how we could replace him with a goalie of equal or better standard. The only 2 that stand out are Joe Hart (He'll surely want out of Citeh), and Lewis at P'Boro, but could he cut it in the prem?

I think Sorensen has done well this year. If he were to leave there must be a few possibilities. Joe Hart might be in the mood to come with Given now being at Man City. I've heard QPRs Lee Camp is good, Maik Taylor if Brum don't get promoted... others anyone?

He's been a key part of our success this season and one of our top performers. All 'keepers drop the odd bollock now and again, and Sorensen has saved us far more often than he's cost us.

Anyone can make saves. Our 5 a side 'keeper pulls off some great saves, but that doesn't make him a great keeper. What makes a great keeper is positioning, ability to handle crosses and communication, all things which Sorensen displays. Simmo on the other hand doesn't fair too well on the second 2 in particular, which only makes him a decent keeper.
All keepers make mistakes, and theur mistakes usually lead to goals that's why theur mistakes are more highly scrutinised. On the whole Sorensen has been excellent this season, and it's not coincidence we've kept so many clean sheets, with him being one of the main reasons.

Tommy was awfully out of position, not coming and not on his line. Rookie mistake.

Eddy is right - compared to who we nearly got, surely everyone would take him over Carlo Gnasher (who might have stayed under different circumstances), Comedy Carson & Full up.
Then add in his free transfer & he's been a steal.
Is he "great"? Possibly not - there is the odd frailty in there - but he's a big part of the side and we'd do well to better him for next season as it stands.

Some people are never fucking happy. Christ we have kept 11 clean sheets in 33 games. You don't have to be a mathematician to work out that we have kept the other team out in one in three games, in our first premier league season. That's a phenomenal stat.
OK, I may have posted on Oliver Kay's Times piece that it's all due to ABDOULAYE, but Sorenson must take some of the credit surely?
