As what happend in the Championship.
He kept us up.
He consolidated.
He had a go at the play offs with a budget team.
We got bored of his tactics.
He came back started to build again, had a go.
Got us promoted.
I think the exact same will happen again. The next 2/3 years will be about building and conoslitdating with maybe a sneaky push towards the Europa cup one year but missing it with poor form towards the end.
Next season i think we may even hit the ground running but then fade of in the 2nd half before another mid table finish
This time however we cannot start getting on his back after 2 or 3 years of mid tableness. As he proved before he is a manger who builds until he has the money or is happy with the team.
He has diserved it and will push us on.

Always said this was a 5 year plan and Coates knows that. Stay up next year and gradually get 22 worthwhile premiership players. We need a stronger bench some full back cover, sorro stand in (like simmo but I think we need a younger player), and a class centre midfielder.
If we could get 16 excellent premiership players by year 2 that would be fantastic, especially without going broke to do it.

I hope he consolidates next season. I can't do another season like this one again! My nerves are in shreds! I'd rather have him as our manager than not, and next season will start to show exactly what he can do - hopefully before April 2010!

This season has been a walk in the park, squeaky-bum wise. My arse was like a blood orange for the last two months of the promotion campaign. We live in happy, golden times. Next season will be another scrap and a half. |

It's not going to be any easier next year round either and we cant go saying oh ah we will take points off all of the promoted teams.
I will be happy to see us mid table for another 5 years, only then when and if we have settled in the league would I like to see us make a go for anything higher.
I have my feet firmly on the ground and I hope those at the club do to. Keep up the good work and lets progress in small steps, one at a time.

If we're not in Europe by the end of next season then PULIS OUT! We've underachieved this season as it is, and I think the club should refund me for all these nervy binary home games we've had
