Concerned about the gulf in class between the starting team and the subs, we really have no strength in depth. Kelly did alright when he came on but we have no one who can change a game and this could prove costly. Any thoughts?

They haven't played for us much so how can you judge them (cresswell aside)
and I think Danny Pugh does have enough quality TBH

Any thoughts? totally agree and if we are to move on comfortable mid table the dead wood has to go and players brought in who are good enough to play in the first team at any given moment

So, assuming West Brom, Boro, Newcastle, Hull or Blackburn go down, which players out of those teams would we want to buy if they didn't want to play in the Championship?

i thouhgt that too, but beggers cant be choosers. i think we need a few more options but they will come in the summer. i liked kelly, i thought he was good yesterday. we need mama back, because then maybe TP wont bring on cresswell. ive got nothing against him but i dont think he has performed this season. hopefully we can make another couple of good signings in the summer though (if we stay up ... i never tempt fate ) like beats or abdy have been great, then we can only get better.

Agree. Thought that before the Newcastle game and it bit us on the arse. We don't have anyone really who could be brought on to change a game, apart from Camara who we haven't seen, and at a push Tonge, who wasn't even on the bench yesterday.

There was a thread about Cresswell during the week that came to the conclusion that no one on our bench can change a game for the better.

how can we afford to keep a 'game changing player' on our bench though? no player who has that quality will and shouldnt want to be sitting on our bench. the only time we've ever had this this season is when fuller has been left out and that was due to the shoulder injury. the minute we have someone who comes off the bench to change a game, we call for them to start anyway.

Most of the teams in the Prem seem to have them though don't they? It's a squad game these days and the odd bit of rotation comes into play.

I think in some circumstances the introduction of Mama could alter the pattern of a game for the final 20 minutes.
We don't need Ronaldo on the bench, but we need better than the 7 we have had recently.
