This a message to Coates and Scholes as much as the fans.
At the Meet The Chairman evening PC and TS said that no corners would be filled until there is proof of more demand.
How do they want this evidence?
I will show you evidence that is surely enough
1) The average attendance is 27,006. This is 98.2% of the capacity.
2) We have sold out at 27,500 eight times. I take this as the attendance being limited by the capacity on those occasions.
3) The attendance has been between 26,500-27,499 on a further five occasions
4) The attendance has been between 25,000-26,499 on the remaining four matches. This was due to night matches and the number of away fans (Fulham, Portsmouth, Bolton, Middlesborough)
5) I have heard many fans now telling me how they know of people who watch the game at the pub/net because it is dificult to get a ticket or if they do they end up sitting separately or no where near their season ticket holding mates.
For me it all adds up to a corner being filled in. It would help get the away fans from by the tunnel and behind the goal and give a chance to improve the attendence.
However, I stand by PC's thought that the money would better spent on getting a winning team on the pitch first.
What do you think?

I think the Britannia should never be more than 32k. I can't see the demand over that even if we stayed up for a while.

What do you think? I reckon they should go and visit some of these pubs whilst the game is on with one of these:

stoke will only build when demand becomes huge on a regular basis until then it wont happen.

Yes, I agree, I heard this coming out of the meeting. But how do you know 3-4 thousand extra want tickets?
A lot are put off even trying because they know there isn't enough available. Is it a case of 3,999 left waiting at the ticket office whilst the last ticket is taken?

i dont think it would be sensible. would hate to see a partly filled stadium and i think that could be a possibility if we filled the corners.

the evidence I started this thread with says that we could fill the seats in a corner though

worst case scenario (please god, no chicken counting here!) we have 1 more season in the prem - the cost of extending the ground needs to be covered by the extra admission's as in the champ we would never sell out
if the corners could somehow be converted into seats then i guess you could accomodate home fans there and increase the away end capacity for larger followings but i guess tp & pc would be reluctant to do that

I don't think we are far off proving the underlying support is there. I'm certain there is further demand for reasonably priced seats. I'm often asked how do you get tickets because there is a perception that they are difficult to get. On the internet is the reply - but you'll probably end up paying minimum of £29.00 to sit on row 7 or lower and you'll have difficulty getting four together unless you're quick of the mark. If that fails get on to the ticket office waiting list. I rung up for the Boro match on the Wednesday was 16th on the list by Thursday I was fixed up. If the ticket office continually gets evidence of demand then this must filter through to the management, and there will become a real danger of pissing off supporters if they continually reserve acres of seating to give away as freebies and corporate sponsors.
PS Still a few hundred tickets available for the Fulham match in the neutral sections P3 and P4

Temporary stands in the corners are surely the answer to prove there is demand
Like at Gills, Brighton and the golf, probably get an extra 500 seats in each corner, make them £20 a pop because of the view and lack of roof , stick in a row of portaloos and a burger van for facilities .
Also make the partition in the south stand narrower

We should fill the scoreboard corner and make it the away section, handing over the whole of the "away" end to Stokies......would need some alteration to the away car-park and some bespoke "penning" maybe, but that way we could achieve full surroundsound...!!!
Scoreboard could go in the opposite corner maybe....

I think its still early days even if we do stay up. I know we have sold out on numerous occasions but at the moment it is all still new and there is a feel good factor around the ground. There are many people who have brought season tickets this season who wouldnt have had we still been in the Championship and a lot of them could quite easily walk away at the slightest of down turns. I believe we should stick with what weve got and if we are still in the top flight in a couple of years time and matches are still selling out then is the time to look at it.

if we stay up there is the demand for a 32000 stadium, not sure abiout any thing bigger.Even in the 70s when we were getting crowds over 40,000 once you knocked the visitors off (villa, Man city and untd etc brought over 10,000) there was never much more than 30, 000 stokies, and if you want proof see our attendance against Ajax in 1974 ( the best side in europe)- 33,000

If we extend the ground and dont sell out the atmosphere will be shit.
I really couldn't see us selling out a 32K stadium.

I dont think it would be right at this stage to extend.
If we ever went down attendances would revert back to 12000 like they were at Christmas 2007.
There are more people sitting near me that I dont recognise this year than those I do which makes me think they are floating band wagon types who may well disappear if we were to get relegated or consolidate and lose the novelty value.
Would have wind breaks though.

Fill the seddon/seat stand corner another 1,500 on the gate plus it wont really break the bank and we would fill it 75% of the games, get it done IMO !

I'd actually like to see more hospitality. For example, upgrade the area between the away fans and main stand. Not with seats but a glass fronted restaurant one or two stories high. They have it a t Villa and its called, wait for it ' The corner flag restaurant!" This would undoutedly pay for itself as their is more money in hospitallity than in a simple seat and would make the ground look better.
Just a thought
They could also then increase the size of the club shop which i'm sure could do better business if it had more stock and better stuff

If the worst was to happen next season or any season down the line and all the fair weather fans fuck off becuase we arent stuffing the likes of Arsenal or Spurs, I would have to see a stadium like Coventry's that looks empty, It was empty enough 2-3 years ago.
