when the 3 teams at the foot of the table cant get enough points to catch us, as in the snookers required stage.

Would say if we win our next 2 then yes, we would be 10+ points clear with 9 to play for so agree West Ham is the earliest we could expect to be mathematically safe.

When we have 4 points more than the team third bottom with one game left. simples.

The most points that any team in the bottom three can get is Newcastle who if they won all their last six games would finish on 48 points. That would mean we need 49.
However, the likelihood that all the other teams below us would over take us is slim to nil.
If Newcastle lose tomorrow we would only need 46 points to be mathematically safe.

2 games time
in one games time, if we win, and the teams in bottom 3 lose, we would be 11 points clear with 12 to play for

43 by my reckoning. mathematically.

It's higher than 43 at the moment. If Newcastle and Boro draw when they play each other but win all their other games they can finish on 46 and 44 points respectively. The earliest we can be mathematically safe is if we beat Fulham and West Ham and 'Castle lose their next three games and Boro lose their next two. Not that it really matters, because we're REALISTICALLY safe already!

When we have 4 points more than the team third bottom with one game left. simples. How does being 10 points clear of the team third bottom with 3 games left fit into your mathematical genius?
