and pretty soon might i add too. Thought at times today 'take on the full back, get in behind him and look for him to bring you down', though for some reason he chose not to.
I aint having a dig but if you read the oatie Matty then please do as the thread suggests.
Thoughts anyone?.

Yeah, Bollocks!!!!!!
Ethers has done well since he joined, today Blackburn were doubling up on him.

He hasn't had the best game today but he is a marked improvement on anything else we have had or have available down the left. Pace goes a long way for a team like us, and overall he has played well.

I agree mate, thought he was poor today, kept losing the ball, couldn't get past anyone. Missed a couple of chances. Hopefully it was just a one off, performance wise, but he needs to be taking some of his chances.

Yeah, Bollocks!!!!!! Ethers has done well since he joined, today Blackburn were doubling up on him. The chances i saw they certainly were not doubling up on him though for some reason he chose not to take him on. Take him on with your pace and skill and look for those to bring you down.

I think we'll see the best out of him next season when he's done a full pre-season. Looks a bit out of sorts at times. Still prefer him to Ledley though.

Ethers has done well since he joined, today Blackburn were doubling up on him. Spot on. Where I sit I'm looking right down the touch line. Whenever Etherington got the ball there were 2 men on him. They squeezed down the space, and blocked potential passes inside or forward. Even if he managed to shake one of them, the other was on top of him before he could get away. Big Sam obviously recognised the threat he posed...

Hmm, he gave us a lot of hope when he first arrived and we desperately needed it, is it Lenny coming back that's put his nose out of joint a bit I wonder? He's class though, this is only a dip.

agreed tazi he's had a poor game today and he's missed a couple of sitters that could of proved pivatol....BUT i still think he's a class player and is going to be a credit to Stoke City.
Tazi, Were planning a lads night out after the Wig Wam game, Are you up for it?

Last week he was fantastic.
Most wingers, unless there top, top class, struggle to hit top gear every week and today every time Etherington had the ball he had Ooijer and Andrews all over him before he could blink. The fact that Higgy is of limited ability on the ball, yes I know he crossed for the goal, means that they can double up on Etherington as he possesses far more danger to them

My thoughts are that he's been an excellent addition to the squad, nobody plays well EVERY week, I'm sure he will have many good games in a Stoke shirt.
Why on Earth would anyone want to nit-pick today????

I only watched on tv so my opinion may not count.
But .....
I thought he was suffering from the "Narrow pitch" syndrome;
he seemed to run out of space to run around the outside of them.

Probably a very good observation Dixo
He had a bit of an off one but the guts, spirit and determination shown by this group of players today notched things up to a new level
What a brilliant day

Players are never as effective when brought in on a January transfer but give him some finishing practice and he'll be spot on next season. The only criticism I can offer is that his finishing is a bit poor. He complete missed the target against Newcastle when he was one on one with the keeper and missed a couple of sitters today, part from that the guys class!

I like Etherington...he was poor today by his standards, but he's by far and away the best option we've got on the left.
If you get frustrated with him just do what I do...remember Cresswell on the wing...he suddenly seems a lot better then.

Etherington is MILES better than any other option we have available on the left flank ...
but I'm far from being convinced by him overall since his arrival (never mind today).
Paul puts tin hat on!

Ethers was very poor today. He seems better away from home where there is more room for him to operate.

on friday i was at the training ground and i dont think he was very fit, as he was training on his own just running laps with the pyshio and he wasnt training fully with the team. He wasnt to bad today and i think it is a bit of lack of confidence at the moment and i am suure he will be back to his best soon.
