Is Mark Hughes thick? It was obvious Dunne was going to get sent off so why didn't he sub him?

With bayern on this one.
How often did the ref warn Dunne before he finally sent him off?
That was an even more inevitable sending off than Wilko against Ronaldo.
I don't think Hughes has done his long term prospects there much good over the last few weeks and his non-decision there may just have been the final nail in his coffin.

English clubs have a pathetic record in this competition...only Liverpool and Spurs have won it in the last 25 yrs...suggesting again that outside of our 'big 4' the prem aint that good

All of this rubbish about the Prem being the top division in the world and stronger now than ever before. No, no, no. In the 70's English clubs dominated the European competitions and the winners were shared around between the clubs (Forest, Villa, West Ham, Newcastle, Spurs, Man City, Leeds, Everton, etc). Now only the top 4 look like winning anything in Europe. The rest of the Prem is average compared with middle German, Italian and Spanish teams. I keep saying the big 4 are a damaging influence on English football and this is further evidence for that arguement.

Compare the teams that are currently 5th and 6th in the major leagues
England: Villa and Everton Spain: Villareal and Atletico Madrid Italy: Fiorentina and Roma
Both of Italy and Spains's 5th/6th placed teams have had very recent champions league experience (Roma, Villareal and Atletico all reached the knockout rounds this year) and are packed with first choice internationals (Totti, Capdevila, Forlan, Mutu etc)

Pugsley would walk over 'hot coals to see Mark Hughes managing Stoke' ;D Once again Alan I have to refer you to the Managers comments about Mark Hughes in the Man City program. The one where Pulis eulogises about Hughes Mark Hughes is a tremendous manager, who in his short term in management has achieved more than our current manager. If you bothered to to look up his record you would recognise that fact. It's true Hughes has had a rough time at City, but the club is a soap opera and has been difficult to manage this season (HIS FIRST SEASON AT THE CLUB) - something Pulis alluded to in his program notes in fact. Would I like Hughes to be a future Stoke manager - you bet. Would I replace Pulis with him right now? No, what's the point, Pulis is doing a great job at getting the results we need . All managers go through tough times - your current messiah is testament to that at Bristol and Portsmouth, where he had a complete shitter.
