Some interesting facts stuck out while I was looking at recent seasons tables (to see what historically the 6th placed clubs points tally was ;D ).
In the past 4 seasons, 12 clubs have been promoted and only 3 of those have come back down. (5 if you count Wolves and Leicester or Portsmouth on their way back as we speak). This means the face of the "top flight" is changing rapidly and may even be a contributing factor to the big 4 clubs dominance of affairs.
4 years ago it would have been laughable to think that teams like Charlton and Fulham would be challenging for a place in Europe.
Equally laughable would be the notion that some of the Premiership teams would be in Division 2 (Wednesday, Watford, Barnsley, and soon Franchise, Bradford & Derby)
With this ever changing landscape, (who would have expected to see Leeds drop back into 2nd division 2 years ago) it gives great hope that we are going to get back where we belong, in the top flight giving the Manures, Arses and leeds of the world a hard time.
Oh, by the way ... in the last 8 years the points required for a playoff place has varied between 71 and 76. 76 would get you in every time while 75 would have missed once and once a team on 75 lost out on goal difference.
C'Mon Stoke!! We are going forwards at last!!
