Remember queuing with my kids for autographs at the Club's Open Day. There was an area set up marked 'Peter Beagrie' and once we got his autograph he joked that we should go and get Gary Hacket's autograph at the area marked 'Others'. Yes he's always had a high opinion of himself but my God he provided some magical monments in a Stoke shirt.

But as a pundit he's up there with Lawro La Tool i'm afraid.

Remember a game at Shrewsbury when he was playing like a 'demon' until he got cynically chopped down. He could hardly walk and Mills was bellowing at him to 'come off'. Beagrie shouted 'fuck off' and refused to go off. A few minutes later he did a 'trademark' dribble down the right and laid on a goal.
Can't condone his attitude to his manager, but it was funny as fuck!

Beagrie and Chamberlain were quite brilliant players in their day and I'd put either one of them into our current team without hesitation if we could get them back at their peak!

Agree with the sentiments but TP wouldn't pick Chambo' as his work rate was close to zilch (great player though).

Never rated him. Thought he was an idle waster who had bags of skill but played a full part in our relegation. He soon jumped ship when we went down.

He had bags of ability but, as you say, could be bone idle. If the ball came to his feet he could be amazing but he wouldn't move 5 yards to reach a pass.
I've just realised you meant Beagrie and not Chamberlain march, in which case I totally disagree. (except with the jumping ship bit)

Peter Beagrie's goal against Bournemouth at The Victoria Ground is still the best Stoke City goal i have seen scored .

Saw Beagrie run almost the length of the field, going past at least 3 or 4 opponents on the way, only to crash the ball into the top corner of the net, followed by a mind boggling summersault (He did this several times). Amazingly, this guy played for Stoke! What's not to like?

Peter Beagrie's goal against Bournemouth at The Victoria Ground is still the best Stoke City goal i have seen scored . It was, but my enduring memory of him is him standing with his hands on his hips game after game whilst we went down. I suspect his attitude wasn't too good for fostering team spirit. He was a mercenary who had no feeling for the club (thats about 90% of players I know)

Keith Scott used to stand with his hands down his shorts.

Nothing to do with this thread but, talking of penalty misses, I don't think I'll ever get over Gallagher and Chadwick against Hull. I still don't believe what I saw that day.

He was proud to wear a Stoke shirt. Great player. I was there the first home game after he sold him, and well, how's is that club sponsored Volvo? " Does sir like the new bricked look of the current volvo with the aerial shoved up its own exhaust?" ( and I know who did it!) ohhh the good ole' days! ;D

Twat or not, for a long time he was the only player we had worth watching and i was personally gutted when he left.
Mind you i still shed a tear to this day thinking about when Chamberlain left. Fuck me i was distraught, nearly stopped going ;D

Has Beagrie always been a Tool? For a year around 1998 - 1989 he was a balanced individual who you could not help but to admire. However prior to that and also after that time he was and still is, an utter tool

used to know Beags quite well and always thought of him as a nice guy.
Played a lot of golf with him and remember once that we were on a hole with a green surrounded by a lake at the front. I pulled out a 7 iron and Beags said there was no chance id hit the green with that and we should bet £20. I hit the ball and it was heading straight for the middle of the lake - Beags was pissing himself laughing saying that i owed him 20 quid. The ball then hit something like a rock or lilly pad or something in the lake shot up in the air and ended up in the middle of the green!! He was not happy, never got the $20 tho!! TOOL!

Peter Beagrie's goal against Bournemouth at The Victoria Ground is still the best Stoke City goal i have seen scored . Quite a brilliant individual goal Stenny, but as far as individual goals go, I think my favorite is the goal from Toddy Orlyigsson against Sunderland!!!
