taken from the guardian www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/apr/07/champions-league-manchester-united-portoGOAL! Manchester United 2-1 Porto (Tevez 85) United win a throw-in deep in Porto territory on the right-hand side. Neville Delaps the ball towards Rooney on the byline, who cuts it back to the edge of the six-yard box with an ungainly looking volley off his heel*. Tevez the substitute is on hand to get across his marker and poke the ball home at the near post. bet man u aren;t getting slated for playing ugly long throws are they?

no chance of that happening..... i thought tbf it was a lovely flick from rooney .... even if was manure.... this will be seen as pragmatic and "getting the job done," unlike us who are harshly steretyped as it being are only method of scoring

How long until "delap" enters the Oxford English Dictionary with the definition of "extremely potent & powerful long-throw used in football"?

ace isn't it
even more ace was Neville going totally missing for Porto's equaliser. Made me smile

is there anyway to campaign for delap to go into oxford dictionary. facebook campaign or some bollocks like that.
could help take pressure off players having something funny like that knocking around.

barmy...you need to read the rest of the entry...it's tongue in cheek
"*I appreciate it's probably difficult to imagine a volleyed back-heel around the corner to the edge of the six-yard box looking anything but sublime, but if anyone is capable of making it look ungainly, it's Rooney."

I thought I read somewhere that for a word to be considered for the OED, it has to have been used independently in at least three different publications? Could be wrong though. If people are starting to use it regularly, there might be a case for it.
