What in the name of God were we doing when we gave Griffin a 4 1/2 year contract? He was 28 at the time and looking like his body was already shot (based on his derby performances and confirmed by his performances in the promotion run in).
I was amazed that he managed to get fit enough to give a decent account of himself for the first three months of the season, but he's clearly not been able to maintain that. His days as a premier league player seem to be over for me, but we've got him 'til he turns 32 unless someone wants to take him off our hands. I can't really think who would want to buy him- when he is not 100% fit, seemingly the majority of the time, he isn't even fast enough to be a reliable championship full back - I can't really see him dropping to league 1 wages either. He probably has to move this summer if his career is to do anything but fizzle out in Stoke's reserves.
