I honestly believe the reason we will survive this season is because of the bonding within the club of players, manager, supporters in fact everyone, And its all been brought about by Paddy power the Lazy journalists and pundits who tried to belittle us as a club throughout the season. The negative media has made us the fans sing louder and the players work harder. Perhaps we should all say a big thankyou to everyone whos ripped into us this season because i believe its made our survival in the Premiership easier.

PP was on the radio talking about the relegation odds this evening. Comments made imply that he/they are fully aware that they may look like arses come May 24th and could expect a battering from the fans. ;D

After appropriate thought on the subject, Paddy Power has absolutely no part in any success Stoke has had this season. He is a prick who chose to offend Stoke and with a bit of Irish charm thinks no one really cares. It adds insult to injury and I would like to give the fat lad a slap.
The reason Stoke do well is because they are great, the manager is great and we the fans are great. All these media monkeys, pundits and bookies can fuck off back to their fragrant lives in London where football is something you do before sipping cocktails and scummy little clubs like Stoke offend their sensibilities.

Dodgy I agree with your first sentence. other than that, I'm with Ilford. They can all get well and truly slutbagged. They're not Stoke, they don't understand Stoke, and they have no real reason to jump on the bandwagon and start blathering on about how impressive Stoke have been or who 'should' have stayed up instead. If we get the points to stay up, then credit to all involved with the club. The stupid prix that do the football here in Oz were all over Stoke to go down, now they're on an arse licking exercise, as they are fucking wrong. Cockjockeys without a horse. Up yours you bastards !!!! I'd really love it for Newcastle to go down, I'd reallly love it !!!!!!!!!! Rant over

I also think that Paddy Power and the smug and ignorant members of the media have played little/no part in our success.
We've been away for so long and it meant so much, you only have to witness the scenes v Leicester to see the outpouring of emotion - we fans were always going to have that desire to make a statement this season, with or without the derision we've endured. That passion been harnessed well by the club with ambition from the chairman, canny management from Pulis and commitment from the players.
Paddy Power has recently stated that we've probably strived harder this season because of his actions, he can go fcuk himself. If anything his actions could have destabilised us and our season could have unravelled before it began. Its to all of our credit that it hasn't.

I use Paddy Power all the time. I couldn't give a shit whether they payed out on us going down early doors. It was a great marketing ploy by them. I just don't get all menstrual when we are tipped to go down by anyone. What's the point? The only thing that matters is us staying up. The rest , I couldn't really give a monkeys chuff about to be honest.

RAF is right. Many of the pundits just are not very good at their job and don't do their research properly. If they fuck up their punditry they deserve the flack.
But Paddy Power hit on a great marketing ploy which got them massive (and cheap) publicity and no doubt, made them a lot of profit as a result. That is what a bookmaking business is for - making profits, it certainly doesn't exist to give the fans of a newly promoted football club a warm glow inside! ;D

We know it was a stunt from Paddy, an embarrassingly transparent one that he defended as some kind of grand gesture to illustrate the skewed financial state of English football. I don't expect him to give a shit about us, he has profits to make and no doubt he profited from making us a laughing stock 90 minutes into the season. But he strikes me as a smarmy little scrote - and his close affiliation with TalkSport backs that up. A self styled 'friend of the people'. The Ryanair of bookmakers. He doesn't deserve our attention, let alone our hard earned cash.
For the record, our so called “stunt” last Saturday was genuinely not meant to single out Stoke City FC or any of their fans for ridicule.
We thought that, if anything, paying out so early on a team to go down just illustrates how unfair the top league is these days, and how difficult it is to stay up from the Championship.

I notice the so called 'hard done to' on here that took such offence at Paddy Power and decided to boycott them, still read the newspapers of the journalists that slagged us off repeatedly, still watch MOTD even though according to most on here Lawrenson and Co have hammered us nearly all season and also still listen to TalkSport. You couldn't make it up.

Personally I've listened to 30 minutes of TalkSport in my life, when I saw that Smudge was due to appear. They drum up listeners, and therefore sponsorship, by being controversial, and Stoke fans bite - its lowest common denominator radio and we should leave them to it.
But the Paddy Power situation is totally different to a Match of the Day pundit or a journalist saying we'll go down.
Its a journalists job to give his opinion, if its ill-informed then thats his problem. Its a bookies job to make money, and yes, the marketing ploy made Paddy Power money. But if he uses our club to make his money, bends us over and slips it in, and smugly says it was all a bit of fun let me buy you all a drink (and drum up more publicity) - he's not having mine.

"Opinion yes. Have a pop at every single opportunity no! Punditry is meant to be objective and fair." Who is this referring to? I'm not even sure what the debate is any more. I fail to see how Match of the Day pundit's occasionally saying we might go down (whilst sometimes saying we'll stay up and saying they are 'big fans' of ours) compares to Paddy Power's stunt. It's not the same thing. Match of the Day - mostly ill informed about us, only know about the 'Big 4'. Journalists - as above. With occasional piss taking. TalkSport - wind up merchants. Paddy Power - used us for a calculated and cheap stunt to make money. I'm not as bothered about it as it might appear, we're probably not a million miles apart in our views, in the main I just turn my back on them and carry on. If I was a betting man though, as a Stoke fan I'd definitely say 'sod him' and take my business elsewhere.
