I see what your saying totally, but i just cant see Newcastle doing better than them to allow them to slip in the drop zone....
i feel theyll just survive by the skin of their teeth....
But what an amazing demise it would be if they did get relegated!!!! lol

I think Hull will stay up and assuming Boro and Baggies have gone I'm desperate for Newcastle to go down too so I'll be rooting for Hull so long as we pull well clear!

I would prefer to see the Toon relegated. It will do the PL some good for two promoted teams to stay up.

I wouldn't mind Hull staying up together with us - that could result in one "big" club going down. Hopefully that would be Newcastle. The situation suddenly looks better for us next season if we manage to avoid the trapdoor: The promoted teams usually struggles and a few of the "big" clubs have financial problems. Two more victories and next season suddenly looks a lot easier!

I much prefer Hull to stay up, because when it comes to it i would fancy our chances of getting more points off them next season than Newcastle or Portsmouth.

I hope Hull stay up on one condition.... On the last day of the season with the pressure mounting, Tango simply can't take it anymore and spontaneously explodes showering the KC crowd with orange flesh and bits of a bomber jacket.

If Boro beat Hull on Saturday then (based on the run ins) it's not THAT difficult for Boro to finish above them.

When I did the predictor thingy, we were relegated on 41 points. The team who finished level on points, but one difference in goals were Hull.
In spite of this, I have predicted Hull to go down since the start of the season. I likened their start to one Carlisle had in the 70's. They were also relegated before collapsing down the divisions. History has a nasty habit of repeating itself.
Hull back in the bottom division in 4 years - it is quite possible!

I haven't got a problem with Hull really, their fans (the real ones who didn't get giddy) have had years in the wilderness and nearly saw their club go to the wall. My problem is with their prick of a manager and in an ideal world Hull would stay up but Duffen would see the light and sack the tosser.

When I did the predictor thingy, we were relegated on 41 points. How on earth did you arrive at that scenario? How many wins did you give Newcastle between now and the end of the season?

When I did the predictor thingy, we were relegated on 41 points. How on earth did you arrive at that scenario? How many wins did you give Newcastle between now and the end of the season? I think Newcastle will be fine. Part of my scenario was worst case for Stoke (because in my experience that is what happens) and complete collapse for Brazil and Boro. Newcastle also finished on 41 points, but their goal difference was better than us or Hull. I started next Saturday with a win for Stoke!!! Don't forget, Wet Sham were relegated with 42 points.

So by YOUR calculations, we're going to have 38 points (no team has EVER been relegated who had 38 points with six games to go) after Saturday and then pick up just THREE points from the remaining six games. Whilst Newcastle are going to pick up TWELVE from their remaining games. With the greatest of respect mate, were you pissed when you did the predictor?

I know Hull have a tough run in, but if we feel that Boro can catch them, don't forget that we are only 1 point in front of them! Apart from which, I don't think Boro have an easy run in either and Sunderland's is tough. And as for Newcastle's!!!!!
I've just convinced myself. No way will we be relegated on 40 points.

Worst case scenario Paul. I was quite happy Saturday night that we are almost safe already. The predictor shook me to the core as I thought we would be mid-table when I pressed the button to calculate the final table.
It does show how important it is to keep going this season, so there is no room for any slip ups. Sheff Utd fans still can't comprehend how they managed to get relegated 2 years ago.
Predictor thingy apart, I think we will be fine. I said Hull to go down at the start of the season and I have been repeating this assertion regularly ever since. I can't see them overtaking us now.

I know Hull have a tough run in, but if we feel that Boro can catch them, don't forget that we are only 1 point in front of them! That's a fair point Doz. However if we win and Boro win on Saturday then we will be in real form whereas 'Castle and Hull will be in free fall both with much more difficult run-ins. Ideal scenario for me is: Newcastle Hull WBA With Boro finishing on the same points as 'Castle but sending the Magpies down on the final of day the season by finishing with a one goal better goal difference than them! ;D Agreed.

If we win on Saturday, surely it would take a truly bizarre set of results for us to go down; the kind of which, objectively, don't happen. And even if we don't, I think it'd take nearly as bizarre a turn of events for all 3 of Newcastle, Hull and Sunderland to all reach the 40-point mark, coupled with us, from nowhere, imploding in a way that makes Hull's recent run look like a surge. Even if Boro win on Saturday, I can't see them reaching our current points total of 35? The cold, emotionless Chancebot probability calculator has us at a mere 4% relegation chance if it makes anyone feel better (no?... me neither) chancebot.com/epl/
