Bristol City are potentially a big club and they certainly have passionate fans and potentially a very big following but they have rarely come close to filling their potential. I only remember one stint in the top flight and that was about thirty years ago!
I've been to Bristil City about seven or eight times to waqtch Stoke and I've seen trouble on eaxh and every occasion! So for that reason alone I wouldn't be bothered if they didn't come up. But having said that many fans of opposing clubs would have said that about us until this season!
Looking at the realistic alternatives Birmingham Reading Cardiff..... I'd prefer Bristol!

Bristol Mick is spot on. There's only one team in Bristol and that's Bristol Rovers. Alright there are two, but, having lived in Bristol a while back, I know that the 'real' fans are the Gasheads. Rovers are the Man City (of old), City are Man U. More money, more arrogance, more delusions of grandeur. The only reason I'd like to see Bristol City in the prem is so I can visit some old mates when we play there. Apart from that, up the Gasheads! Do people say this about us and Vale?

Im a fan of stoke, think youve got quality fans and you get behind your team a lot. I say fair play to you for that.
Pulis is an absolute tool mind, he almost single handedly fucked are club up by playing long ball shit and spending to much money on usless players. He is also a Gashead which obviously pisses us City fans off. Apart from wanker Pulis i hope you stay up.

Look Mr Shithead I know all about you scummers from your drug infested slums south of the sewer and your delusions that your club is on a par with the likes of Stoke. You have loads of daytrippers who will go to meaningless games (when their premiership glory team aint on the box) but you couldn't even half fill the away end at the Brit last year in your most important game in years!
AND my point was that most shitheads hate Stoke - do you deny that?

AND my point was that most shitheads hate Stoke - do you deny that? BM I think ive heard it all know! You lot have had poor support for years, ive lost count of the amount of times ive seen the britania half empty when you were in the championship! Know suddenly all you ''stokies'' have come out of the wood work! Every one knows what shit support youve had so dont go making out your some well suported club just cus your in the prem. If we would have gone up we could have filled a 30,000 seater week in week out easily and you know the potential in Bristol is far greater than Stoke! You are no bigger a club than us. The potential in Bristol is massive all we ned is prem footie down here and the city will be buzzing. Most of us dont really hate stoke, we hate northners in generall but dont flatter yourselfs in to thinking we hate you anymore than any other northen team. We all hate Pulis that is the main reason we hate you. He is a complete idiot who does not have a clue how to play football. His odea of fooball is to get Rory Delap to throw a ball in and get some big beefy defender to head it in! I dont know how you can pay money to watch the utter shit Stoke play.

Thats not fair to say that though if you were in the prem and you had delap and you were scoring goals do you think you would try and play football ? Not realy . You play to your strenghts weather its shooting from distance passing it around or longball or long throw , Whatever your main strenght is you play to it and if it was bristol with the long throw 13th in the prem id like see them saying its bad football.

There you go - the illiterate twat has just show his true colours for you all to see!
Now you know why they are called shitheads, for the delusions of grandeur and bollox they spout.
"You are no bigger a club than us"
53 years in the top flight to your 4 and bigger crowds than you in 90% of the seasons since forever. Ask anyone who isn't a shithead who is the bigger out of us and you and the overwhelming response will be us.
"The potential in Bristol is far greater than Stoke!"
Bristol is a bigger city than Stoke but its not a football city on the same scale as anywhere north of Brum. Too many Bristolians either couldn't give a toss about football or choose to support a glamour club rather than their local clubs. Anyway Rovers are a lot bigger than Vale and we are a lot bigger than you so the gap between the Bristol clubs is very small compared to the dominating position that we have in SOT.
"I dont know how you can pay money to watch the utter shit Stoke play."
This shows what you really think of us, (just like most shitheads) -so dont come on here pretending to be our friend then knobhead.
Jog On

BrisRed
I have lived in Bristol since 1990 and have visited Ashton Gate on many occasions (I saw Andy Cole score for City against Newcastle from the terrace that is now the Atyeo stand) and the sad fact is that while the City and Rovers fans are as dedicated as you will find anywhere, and while the rivalry between City and Rovers is very intense - far more so than ours with Vale, Bristol is just not a football city in the same way that Stoke and other northern cities and towns are. The sad fact is that 80% of the population of Bristol probably couldn't tell you what division City and Rovers are in, and even who's at home on a given Saturday. They just don't care.
That's not to say you wouldn't have filled a big ground had you gone up - just that it would have been full of Clifton residents who turned up to see what all the fuss was about...
And if you substitute Clifton for Redland/Bishopston you have the same situation at Rovers.
Your effect on the premier league would have been nothing in comparison to what ours has been.
As for getting a big, beefy defender to head in a long throw - well maybe you should try it some time, you never know - you might get promoted! If footballing style is more important to you than results on the field however, then you will find you'll find plenty of sympathisers just off J1 of the M5. They'll be coming to visit you in a few months so you can have a good old blart about it together.
In the meantime, have a cider and a smile shut the f**k up.
Much love from the SouthWestStokies!

You are a LOT biger than us are you? Dont chat utter bollox. Yes at the moment you are bigger. What you dont realise is we have a brand new 30,000 seater stadium on the way, that and the fact Bristol has a much bigger potential for fans than stoke (there isnt a prem side in 70 miles of Bristol) than i think that shows your not that far ahead of us.
Yor average attendences in the championship were what 17/18k? Our avergage is 17k so again that shows when we are at the same level you are no bigger. The only thing in your favour is top flight football, but as we all knoww ere does histoy get you? Look at Leeds!
And by the way Stoke do play shit football, everyone up and down the country would agree. Its laughuable to watch actually, i think id see a better standard of pass and move football at Bristol city Academy u16s than your first team.

as BristolMick said, the only team/support with any f****** clue are the Gas.
When I lived in South Wales for 4 years I went to a lot of Bristol derbies, and a bigger set of weapons (the City fans) I've never encountered. Absolute tools a lot of them.
Gas will never really be bigger than City, but it's not a SToke/Vale situation down there. THe most passionate by a mile are Gasheads. ALways have been. Nowt against City, but they are deluded as f*** if they think that they will ever be on a par with us, no matter what division they are in.
The City fan on here last year was sound, but a snider bunch of fans I've not come accross. Seen plenty of scarf wearing Gasheads set upon by large gangs of Cit in the late 80's/early 90's.
I really don't want them lot playing us in the near future. Bristol's a great city, but if I lived there I'd be in the blue-and-white-quartered half.

Agree with BristolMick here all the way ! Couldn't give a fuck about brizzle city and never forgiven Rovers for that fan who tried to clump Wardy back in early noughties. Both sets of fans are inbreeding, cider swilling jiz buckets ! If you can't remember what arrogant cnuts Brizzle City fans were last season then you need reminding, cus they were Stokie5554,you find it amusing that a Brizzle fan (brisred) takes the piss out of a Stokie(BristolMick),get your life in order you muncher Ps Brisred jog on and leave us Premier League boys in peace

not a chance of brizzlw city gettin promotion, they punched way above there weight last season, ( just like a certian port vale did a few yrs back)...in football u alway s end up back at ur own level...city will go down before they go up, last year was (their yr) they just couldnt keep it going during the game it really mattered. and dont go on about the passionate support, i lived down there for a few yrs, they were gettin less than rovers, who played at bath city, and less than bristol rugby fc...i dont like or dislike city, just thought we should have a balanced view of how it is, feel free to dissagree

However, on current form, I can only see the Dingles, Blue noses and one of Reading or Sheff U.

fuck bristol i can remember when we played them twice in a couple of weeks in the 90's we filled their home pub [no meither just stoke lads having a drink]and they were quiet as mice yet in the ground they thought they were big and tough throwing coins at anybody who went to the toilets/refreshment bars. also know of people being twatted for just walking back to their cars inc elderly and kids. i know our fans are no angels but they are a class above those tosspots from bristol. besides i dont care who comes up from what i have seen of the championship this year it is awful, maybe i have become a prem snob but watching brum v wolves this week i am sure we never played that bad! its a safe bet that whoever comes up will be going straight back down again should be a nice little bet
