He did it with Mark Crossley, then Gerry Taggert,Lee Hendrie and now it seems James Beattie is just his latest rabbit out of the hat.
Just when the season appears to be going away from him he manages to find a player to inspire a remarkable turn round in form.
Say you what you like about the bloke, love him or hate him but he always seems to come up smelling of roses.Well done TP

If we stay up, by a good margin (i.e. 14th or higher) will we finally unite under him and proclaim him as our king?
or is there STILL some anarchist/revolutionaries out there still wanting Paul Jewell to take over?

To be honest, I don't think buying Beats was a gamble at all!! Proven goalscorer everywhere he's been. I was just surprised it took so long for somebodyto bring him back to the Prem where he belongs.
Tone's masterstroke was getting Ethers in IMHO.

How many games has Etherington actuallly played tho ? It's surely Beattie's goals and personality around the dressing room that has been the difference since january

Love him or hate him!
If you're a Stoke fan its love him or absolutely love him and if you hate Stoke its hate him!
Proving to be one of the best managers in our history and should win Prem manager of the year with ease if we continue like we are.

To be honest I think all of our players have upped their game over the last month, Beattie has been a revelation as has Etherington but the rest, notably Whelan, Wilko, Abdy and Shawcross have been outstanding.

I think the difference with TP rather than other managers is that he spends time researching the players personality first before signing him rather than just jumping in with the chequebook. The players he's signed in the January transfer windows especially have fitted in with the team immediately and given us the impetus to 'push on' and make an impact.
Thats the real difference in my view, the fact that the players he's signed have effectively changed our season around immediately.

Beattie and Liams celebration yesterday showed exactly what (apart from goals) James has brought to the club....stability, banter, confidence and most importantly of all, the ability to ENJOY themselves.
Pulis stated yesterday that Beat's is lively in the dressing room and you can imagine that they all have a right good laugh these days.
Great to see!
Top Class Mr Beattie..... He's lovin his time at Stoke!

Happy to say that I was hapoy to see TP coming back fromthe start. he showed previusly that he could keep us up, and I had faight thet with PC backing, he could do the job. He's bloody infuriating at times, but keeps on proving that usually, he knows better than us. Results prove it, and our current postion.

Made me laugh Pugsley and more than a grain of truth if I may say so. But fair play, he's putting one up me.
