Let's start a campaign to get Fabio to attend a game at the Brit. England don't play again until June and I think we have a couple of serious contenders that could be pushing for places in that the team.
James Beattie is the top English goalscorer in the Premier League this season if his championship goals are included and has the best goals per game ratio even if his lower league goals are excluded. He is bang on form and VERY VERY confident, (see his post interview when he said I haven't got a weak foot). It would be great to see him travel to South Africa and represent Stoke.
Ryan Shawcross is another potential recruit, albeit at U21 level first. I know he was called up for the last games. Andy Wilkinson is cut from the same mould as Stuart Pearce and is also worth a look. There would be no prima donna posing from these two lads and they have played their part in keeping two consecutive Premier League clean sheets - Not many English defenders can say that this season.
Let's get the profile of our club back to where it should be, after all we are only 3 points away from being one of the top ten clubs in English football (who would have thought that 18 months ago?) Getting Capello to the Brit would be another step in the right direction.
Should we? email the FA bombard the media with emails can someone start a facebook group?
It would be great to see him in Stoke to see Beattie put goals past England keeper Green vs West Ham or past England keeper Kirkland vs. Wigan. He has already put two past David James!
What do you think?
We could also start a get Trapatoni down to see Liam, Rory, Kelly and Glen.

Noooooo! For all the good of saying "our player plays for England" it brings up a whole set of new problems. Injuries picked up on international duty, tiredness from travelling after international duty, heads being turned by the 'big club' players while on international duty, it goes on. For me, their are far more negatives to our players playing for England than positives, so IMHO I hope Capello stays away.

Much as I normally love to see any Stoke player get an international cap, I'd be happy to pay Capello to stay away from the Brit until staying up is a mathematical certainty! After that happens, I'll drive down to London and give him a lift myself. ;D

I thought you were serious then, until i read the wilko bit and glen is a regular in the Irish side. Our tactics are suited to our players, our players aren't suited to england's style.

Then perhaps England should change their style to suit our players? OS.

McNichol - The big clubs thing can work both ways - Beats won't have his head turned but could be influential in persuading other players that Stoke is a great club to play for. I agree about the tiredness, etc. but realistically he would be a sub for most games. Lakeland - by the time Fabio is due against West Ham we will be safe mathematically. Nortwich - Wilko has made good progress this season and does have some way to go, but i would say he is our most improved player. Did you think he would have as many appearances as he has had. If he can add an occasional goal to his portfolio then he will start being looked at more seriously. Oldstokie - spot on! A little more passion, desire and grit could see England getting towards a World Cup - Wilko never shirks and will continue to make great progress as TP used to play this position with his game built on effort rather than quality.
Ilford - would you get a facebook group going?
I also forgot to mention Ethers! If Downing can play for England then so he.
