Bloody ell it only seems a short while ago when Pottermus was voted second in Stokes player of the year awards! When we did the voting for the Manchester supporters player of the year it was hard to pick anybody! But now we've got eight or nine cracking contenders! Its great being a Stoke fan at the moment

Abdoulaye - best signing for the season as a whole. Beattie - best January signing.
Sorensen - best bargain - especially after today considering that we could have had Carson.

Tough job this management lark isn't it (especially in the Premier League).
TP's probably dropped the odd clanger but he remains pretty shrewd in the transfer market and, as has been said above, three fantastic signings that have probably kept us up.
For me, probably Ab for season's best signing but it IS close because Beattie might well have scored the goals that keep us up.
Good manager that Pulis, don't you think?

Abdoulaye. An absolute rock and is bringing Ryan on leaps and bounds

It's very hard.
Beattie, purely because we bought him in the Janurary window to provide firepower to keep us up, he's done more than that, 6 goals in 9 games.... An absolute masterstroke.

What about Ryan, too. He originally came on loan. Or am I a season out, in my present delirious state?

It's very close, Beattie's contribution since he signed has been vital but because of his performances over the whole of the season, I think it has to be Lord Abdoulaye.

Different subject I know, but I'd love player of the season this season to be shared by the whole squad. Shame to pick out individuals in what has been a fantastic 'Team' effort this season. A bit silly I know, but would send a message out that this club is a united unit more than any other club in the Prem.

Wilko most improved. Beattie, can't put that one into words! Fuller has bucked his ideas up, Ryan for continued growth, Mama for just being Mama! A group award from the fans would be brilliant. Oh, and Manager of the Season to TP irrespective.

I know it seems a touch mental, but if all those voting entered 'Whole Squad' just imagine the press coverage that would generate and the whole footballing world would see that we apprecaite ALL of our players for their efforts. This season is different to those that have gone before and I think it's worthy of consideration. There have ben some great individual performances this season but it has, above all else, been a fantastic TEAM effort.
Just a thought.

I think that's a cracking idea Doz, if the player of the year was the "whole squad" it would recognise that unity that been obvious all season. It would be hard to name one player when so many have done so well.
Think Paddy Power also deserve some sort of award for their insult which unintentionally has played a major part in the attitude of both players and fans this season. The "Golden Finger" perhaps?

Abby my a country mile.
He's totally settled the back 4, been immense all season, is now the Captain and is brilliant at it and has without doubt been a massive influence in developing Ryan as quickly as he is doing.

It's hard, we dodged bullets with all all of our best signings in my opinion. Faye - when you look at Olsson, Meite and Gardner (WBA and Hull's summer CB signings) its unbelievable that we signed Faye for £2m or whatever it was. Beattie - You can't argue with 6 goals in 10 games, the epitome of our squad- hard working and has a point to prove.
I have to say Faye because he has not only been rock solid he has advanced Shawcross 1/2 years by looking after his this year.

We were chatting about this very subject in a pub in Birmingham last night.
In all seriousness, if you were to compile a top ten list of the Premier League's best 'Value for Money' signings this season we would HAVE to have three players in there... Thomas Sorensen, Abdoulaye Faye and James Beattie.
Can anyone offer any genuine suggestions of other similarly amazing signings this season in the Prem?

Not really, only Zaki on loan, but he's messed that up now EDIT: and Geovanni probably, although he isn't doing too much atm, his early form could have kept Hull up
