With bolton unlikely to go down, they will want to keep him at all costs as hes their best player and also their captain. Think you'd be looking around the £4-5.5m mark. Thoughts?

Would love Davies, the perfect player to fill the Mama role if there was ever one.

Thought that myself, 32 now though so maybe only 1 decent season left in him as a striker. Would be worth a couple of million for one season, good experience to have around (same as Beattie).

Let's look at who we could cherry pick if we stay up: Boro - O'Neill, Tuncay. Newcastle - no f*****! WBA - ha, ha Bolton - Taylor, Davies, Steinsson Sunderland - none for me Pompey - Hreiddarson. Tw@, but can play all across the back 4.

I'm trolleyed..... and you're right. Although they've played him centre half for quite a few games.

When is the next African Cup of Nations? Not sure we should be playing the Senegalese starting XI or we'll end up playing Cressy in 3 different outfield positions all at once...

Can anyone else see us trying to sign Alan Smith if/when the Geordies go down? I can imagine Tone seeing him as a 'Battersea Dogs' Home' type player and his style of play would fit in well with ours. He's had an awful time at Newcastle but he's still only 28 and I reckon Tone would love him.
Thoughts?

Didn't Senegal not make it? Just checked, next one is 2010 in Angola and it normally takes place Jan / Feb time. Not sure about whether Senegal are in it, they finished runners up in their qualifying group. Assuming only the top team qualify then they're out www.canqualifiers.com/group-6.html

Didn't Senegal not make it? Spot on mate, Senegal didn't qualify. Davies, O'Neil and Beye would all be fantastic and realistic (Beye possibly realistic) signings for us next season IMHO.

Agree he is a good lad though It is a question of giving us options isn't it? At the moment (until Mama is fit again) if Beattie or Fuller can't play, or are not working, we are down to Cressy or Camara (loan) as back up. For what its worth Davies would fit perfectly with Fuller and I think Beattie is a good enough footballer to play alongside him.

Davies won't be available. (TP wouldn't play him with Beattie anyway).
Agree Morrison at WBA would be a good signing (Easily their best player).
Tuncay - No chance! (Chelsea are interested and he will go to a much more 'high profile club' than us). On the other hand - Johnson at Boro would be a great signing and add pace and flair to us. O'Neil and Riggot WILL be on TP's list for sure.
Suspect we'll be one of the favourites to sign Shorey from Villa.

if there are any players in the prem who would fit in our team he is all of them he should be well up the list of targets You are JOKING? Right. This lad really wouldn't like to be on the bench, and lets face it - the threat Fuller and Beattie possess at the moment suggests he'd be sat on his arse for a season. And what did he do at the Brit? Fuck all apart from kicking people. And we musn't get ahead of ourselves, it isn't unusual for a relegation threatened team to come away with less than 5 points in 7 matches - so stop this talk. Although, are the likes of Johnson really any better than a Matthew Etherington?

Tom; Johnson is right sided and, much as I love him, got more flair and pace than Liam.

Right sided?
Don't think so, but if he is, how can't he get anywhere near the right hand side of MIDDLESBOROUGH so he must be average and despite having pace/flair - he obviously lacks strength and commitment which Stoke NEED in every single player. Would he funnel back and help the team unit behind the ball? Nah.
The latter's the problem with every single team below us, and 3 or 4 who are above us. We need a team, and with Etherington down the left, we'd have to change our style drastically if we got another clone of him on the right - we just haven't got the money to do that for at least 3 or 4 years.

Imo Davies is way too similar to Beats. I have been saying how much B reminds me of KD in the way that he can hold the ball up.
