Although Tony Mowbray will be hung, drawn and quartered for the next few days by the media, his clubs fans and probably his friends and family..., statistically speaking, his tactics today were spot on.
If we delve closely into the match stats, it seems West Brazil enjoyed 66% of the possession, compared to a dismal 33% by Stoke. So how did TM get it SO right?? With 2/3 of the possession, West Brazil only managed to concede 2 goals. If they had for example only achieved 1/3 then basic maths says they would have conceded 4.
With their slick display of passing, they restricted Stoke to 33% possession, which resulted in just 2 goals. Imagine if they werent very good and gave us their 66%, then its fair to say we would have easily scored another 4.
So, to summarise: With his fantastic ethics of trying to play the beautiful game, he has pulled off a remarkable feat in only losing by 2 clear goals. If his team hadnt stuck to their guns, then these statistics, which have been tirelessly worked upon with advanced mathematics and 4 cans of strong continental lager, then he would have lost by 8 goals to nil.
Well done Tony Mowbray, we love you lots.

As someone who vowed to always play pure football no matter what I found it curious that they were launching long throws into our box?

Well I wasn't sure until watching that today what Albions total football consisted of, but now I know the secret.... From Butter fingers, play a ball to your full back who then plays it to a wide man who then twats it into the area. Very Holland circa the 1970's!! Pretty football? You can stick it up your arse (and it wasn't even pretty!)

Team talk from Tony Mowbray:
"Now go out there and pass. Pass til' your knees buckle. Don't score - you'll give possession away at the restart. If they do somehow get possession, let them score and we'll get possession back at the restart. Play like that and we'll be in Europe next week. And don't forget the pixies are my friends and one day I will be exalted on high, ha ha ha ha ha wibble wibble nphrgh."
