Whelan could be the key man for me in the WBA game, and it's great to hear that he's chomping at the bit to get going.
I'm not knocking the vital job done by players of the ilk of Delap, Faye, Diao, but we just look a far better side with a player in the middle who can create space, pick a pass, shoot from distance etc.
Trappatoni is no mug, having worked with some top players during his career, and he obviously sees something in Glen that he likes. If he's good enough to play against the World Champions, he's more than good enough to play against Oldbury's finest!
