dickheads + alcohol = trouble. look at it the way the police do, local derby, anything other than wba win and they are realistically down, stoke win seems likely and raises chances of trouble come 5pm saturday.
the system is shite and punishes the vast majority of well behaved stokies who genuinely just want a pint before game or at half time. the sad fact is that there is a strong correlation between football crowd issues and alcohol consumption, while the stats show that, it will be a similar pattern for the forseeable future.

I think some people are missing the point here, people will drink outside of the ground anyway, so this is not going to stop our fans drinking, people who drink in the ground DO NOT cause trouble, and never have done. All that is happening is that genuine fans are being punished, i am not against fans drinking in city centre's etc, its just not everyone wants to and some just want a couple in the ground to lubricate their voices!

Went to Budapest a year or so ago for a weekend and took in a football match featuring local team Ujpest and someone else(can't remember). Over there they positivley encourage drinking on the terraces young dolly birds walk around the ground during the match with trays of beer waiting for someone to buy one, naturally we obliged. Match was crap but you could drink beer, just like the old days on the terrace, was fuckin great. BTW ujpest play in a strip similar to ours purple and white stripes instead of red and white, got quite a few funny looks from the locals wearing my Stoke strip at the match ;D

So Mr Fields,
Alcohol does not cause social disorder, domestic violence, criminality, health related problems, A & E admissions, mental health problems, associated drug misuse and family disruption. I'm really glad about that. I can retire tomorrow. The last 26 years were all a myth (a bit like the virgin birth)
But hey why let ignorance get in the way of reality (back to religion again)
GD
P.S But those nasty smokers deserve all they get don't they !

people who drink in the ground DO NOT cause trouble, and never have done. is that a fact? ??? whilst i broadly agree with your sentiments that is nonsense. and lets get this straight it isn't just stoke who get this treatment. This persecution complex is starting to make us sound a little bit silly. still its a pointless exercise and indicative of the incompetence of WMP

is it really that difficult to go without beer for 90 minutes? IF we're winning at half-time and then approaching full-time, isn't it usual for the referee to play at least 90 + 8 minutes in the Premier League ?
