Fuck me, even for the capped wonder, our Manager is getting the 'bigging up the opposition' in early. www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5133775,00.html

what should he say then pugsley? "it's a fucking rubbish appointment based on blind faith, and the sort of knee-jerk sentiment that got them in this trouble in the first place"
give it a rest eh?

Not suprising really Pugs. Just making sure there's no complacency. That game was always going to be tough without Shearer's appointment.

What exactly is there in that interview that is so offensive to the PHWs?
I can only see TP stating the facts and the last line sums it up: "I think it is a great move for Newcastle and it is up to him [Shearer] to get on with it."
Shearer being appointed will unite the fans and the club after a season of total chaos - whether it will do them any good (which I highly doubt) is the real questions and as TP says it's now up to Shearer to prove himself.

i don't think i could be described as a rimmer chief. i'm of the "he's a twat, but he's our twat, and there are so many biger twats in this league that he's actually starting to look digified in comparison" school of pulis toleration.
if i was being a bit prickly, then i apologise. it's just you seem to have a pop in every post, even when a little bit of credit is due... the exception being when you're suggesting that the ONLY reason we got promoted is Coates putting his hand in his pocket...
it would also write shearer's team talk, and you'd be the first on here blaming Pulis

He does sometimes go overboard in his praise of the opposition, but I'd rather he bigged them up than criticise them, that would only galvanize the opposition.

His finest hour is still his tirade, some of it in CAPITALS! about unearthed gem Ritchie de Laet going to Man Yoo.

I think Tone will want to win this game even more now - think about it...
Tone is a 'time served' old school manager.
Shearer is a pundit on MOTD.
Getting beaten by Newcastle with Shearer in charge would be annoying, to say the least.
Anyhow, He'll want to tap Shearer up after the game to see which players fancy coming to the Brit next season for Prem footie!!

Fuck off Rob ;D You know I was making a general point about Pulis and his blindingly obvious inability to develop young players. In hindsight De Laet was the wrong person to use to prove a point, but his handling of Commons and Foster was abysmal (IMO) Is that a can of worms I hear being opened?

Foster was a great deal for all concerned. We had two good keepers in very good form at the time and he was an untested rookie on loan at Wrexham when Fergie spotted him. Nobody would have dropped our keepers at the time for an untried rookie, and nobody would have told Foster he couldn't have his dream move so he could sit on our bench for a season (which happened under Bossie anyway).

The manager has to be a party to press interviews. His only requirement is that he doesn't say anything that will end up on the opposition dressing room wall as a motivation device.

I think I'd rather have Tone's approach than Shearer's who's just heaped the pressure on himself and the players by saying. 'we're two points behind, if the others win it's five points. We HAVE to get something against Chelsea on Saturday' Very truthful Al, Way too (and unnecessarily) truthful. He shaping up to be a disaster

Does it make any difference to us? No, it doesn’t. Alan Shearer isn’t going to be playing against us when we play them and Alan Shearer isn’t going to be playing against us when we play West Brom on Saturday.”
that is what he also said and i agree with him! so goarnn stoke! you are all that matters

We HAVE to get something against Chelsea on Saturday' Very truthful Al, Way too (and unnecessarily) truthful. He shaping up to be a disaster actually dont see what else he could have done? i hate shearer but fear that he could be just what castle need - they DO have good players and therefore its just a matter of confidence and a long needed kick up the arse - if shearer can do that then he will have earned his money - he also clearly has experience of management as he has been managed by several great and bad nanagers in in his time howvere there was a great article about shearer in the guardian not long ago that detailed all the times hes bottled it in football and i dont think its any co-incidence he's gone to toon when he has least to lose - could (and hopefully will) backfire on him - all depends on how much input he has tho (minimal if ashley has any brain and has seen his pitiful match analyses - he basically steals hansens phrases jumbles them up and then states the obvious!) he was a great player for blackburn and theres clips on youtube to prove he scored some great goals for them but clearly an abslolute bully and coward of a man

I cant see what TP has said wrong.
If he had said Shearer had no chance in hell then he would just put pressure onto himself and the players to get a result. Whereas at the moment he pressure is on Shearer and Newcastle
