Andrew Johnson, Darren Bent, Agbonlathingy, Davies, all in front of him I fear.

I can't see Andy Johnson's game (what is he, 5' 6" or 5' 7"?) fitting in with what Capello seems to want from his focal point.
And Agbonlahor seems to be injured as well as desparately out of form.
If Capello is ruling out Kevin Davies, Beattie must have a decent shout at being the next cab off the rank?

It's beginning to look that way. Thinking about it, no disrespect to our James, but the options really are wearing a bit thin. Hadn't realised that Agbo' was injured but still think Johnson and Bent will be selected before JB. He has got a 'big boy' in Crouch so doesn't necessarily need a Heskey/Davies/Beattie type. I know he's not the same type of player but believe Capello would change tactics rathet than personnel.

Has any other striker scored more since he signed for us

Wouldn't disgree with you Buxton but remember we ARE Stoke and it's always more tempting for an England manager to pick a 'higher profile' player from a 'higher profile' club even if that player isn't in the form that our player is.

and to see Lescott and Baines
Capello doesn't seem to care about reputations though and is happy to judge a player on his ability rather than the club he plays for

leave Beattie alone! Why would he need England when we need him more

Beattie doesn't need England but England need Beattie

Hope you're right Buxton for JB's sake. I'd rather England left him alone (for purely selfish Stoke City reasons) but what a huge honour it would be for the lad, having dropped into the CC and returned to prove that he was ALWAYS good enough.

Darren Bent has been called up Logically that is the step you would of thought he would take. James is no where near ready for international football right now so just keep the fuck away from him
