Currently winning 2-1 at Morecambe, if they win today (as things stand) they will be 9pts from safety with a game in hand, and a possible 21 points still to get. They're in quite good form at present aswell.
Just because of the injustice of them starting the season on -30 points I would love to see them survive, it would be a great story.

Realistically they would need to win at least 5 of their remaining 7 games to stand a chance, not likely but I love an underdog so i'm praying they do it!!

in two minds about this
Luton Town has been a thoroughly rotten club for 2 decades now & certainly the Football League HAD to penalise them,& penalise them heavily for their repeated offences.
at the end of the day there are football clubs who DO keep their house in order & its only right that those clubs arnt disadvantaged against clubs who take the piss.
however Lutons fans e.t.c. are innocent & the club itself has a new regime.
overall I guess the 30 points was too much.

I think 30 points was incredibly harsh. It was proven, seemingly numerous times, that West Ham cheat with Tevez, yet they get a fine and no points deduction.
Seems unfair to me.
I hope Luton stay up, but cant see it.
Off the point, I loved it when we won there 2-1 with two late goals from Sheron and Sturridge!

Football League have no jurisdiction over West Ham
if they did West Ham would have been relegated automaticlly.

Football League have no jurisdiction over West Ham if they did West Ham would have been relegated automaticlly. Precisely, one rule for one etc. What is it with West Ham? Uncle Trevor promoted way beyond his capability. Ron Greenwood appointed England manager when he wasn't even one of the shortlisted names who were interviewed ( and Cloughie was)

Sort of suggests that Brian's interview didn't go too well!

Hope they survive. I think they were penalised OTT compared to other "big" teams.

There has to be a better way to handle these matters. Docking clubs 10 points for deliberately going into administration to gain an advantage is fair enough and we all know that West Ham should have been docked points for fielding an ineligible player. But, in cases like Luton's, where they had already been given a huge points deduction, their 'other' offenses could have been dealt with by way of some other punishment. A 30 point deduction was just unfair on their long suffering fans who had committed no offence. I know that some will have no sympathy for them but the wrong people are penalised all the time. Why can they not sanction/punish the individuals concerned.

The only chance they'd have is if all of their remaining games were away at the Vale.

Luton had a plastic pitch and banned away fans for years. That's cheating in my eyes.
Two 'd's in riddance?

the issue here is that the club were deducted points two or three times. they have been punished enough before this season and the -30 meant that the football club was almost certainly looking at relegation this season. the problem is the new owners have been punished for offences they did not commit, the fa seem very keen to help out west ham etc when they get themselves in a mess, but the smaller clubs such as luton, rotherham, bournemouth have been repeatedly punished and driven to the brink of extinction. i hope they stay up and think it is testament how many tickets they have sold for the johnstones paint trophy final at wembley, over 35000.
realistically they will need 5 or 6 wins to do it and other results to go for them.

Blame Millwall (as usual) for the away fans ban bunny. Tossers!

Luton fan at work says he's willing them to win the JP trophy in a couple of weeks - just so Brian Mawhinney has to hand the trophy over to the Luton skipper in full view of the fans before they sink under the weight of (his fully approved) 30 points deduction. Irony a-plenty. Have to say it's a sad state when one of the teams I remember from Stoke's last spell in the top flight and participant in one of the Vic's most memorable games is about to drop from the league in such a manner.

Not_Nick_H:
They've not been treated fairly and the thought of Luton playing none-league football because of the actions of 'men' that are long gone from the club is just plain wrong. I hope they win at Wembley and that they bounce straight back up. THAT game will live in many a Stoke fan's memory for many years to come.

The plastic pitch and the exclusion of away supporters did accrue negative karma but that is more than reversed by having Eric Morecambe as a Director. Plus they were opponents in one of the greatest televised games in our club's history.
