I genuinely don't think Ledley King is fit though, he hasn't been for a long time, and should never have been called up in the first place.

If Ledley King didn't want to be called he should have announced his retirement from international football a long time ago. I think it's encouraging that Capello wants to explore the option of playing two ball-playing centre backs, but the dearth of them in this country is a bit depressing. Give me that over blood and thunder one-paced "passion" merchants any day of the week.

The retiring from international football means nothing though,
Two years ago Makalele said he did not want to play for France anymore, Domenech the manager said that it was not his choice and that if he wanted him in the squad there was nothing he could do about it!! and if he did not turn up he would be baned by FIFA from all football.

Very true rob. If King is as knackered as it has been made out then he should of quit a long time ago.
I think some are injured and I think so just plainly cannot be arsed. Take that Spain game a while back, I think it was that one, pretty much our entire first eleven ran off sick and injured only to play for their respected clubs that very weekend after the match. It stinks and something needs to be done about it. The only one that comes across sometimes that he gives a fuck about his country is David Beckham. He travelled halfway across the bloody world to play a pointless friendly, yet you get assholes like Cashley Cole and "Fat Boy" Frank Lampard who say they have an injured little pinkie.
Gets my back up sometimes, sorry all.

POLO It hasn't worked like that here though generally has it? Lineker, Scholes, Shearer, Carragher. Even Andy Cole. All had their retirements respected. I don't see why King hasn't done the same if he and Harry are going to cry about it.

All the clubs want their players fit for these important games. They're not really interested in friendly matches for England etc.
No comparison, premiership survival for many reasons, financially being at the top of the list.
Some of those clubs will be stuffed big time if they are relegated.

I think the parent clubs do have a say in who plays and where ,cause as said earlier relegation from the premier could and does cripple some of these so called BIG clubs. Teams nowadays are shit scared of getting relegated for this reason, so although the Premier as done wonders for the class of football we are now seeing, the money aspect as fecked the game up on the whole, how many teams outside of the premier can you say can actually hold there heads up above water?not many eh? Teams nowadays just look forward to a good cup draw against one of the big boys to get cash in,years ago they actually entered the competition expecting to win it!!Plus years ago they played for their country and for the CAP, do they still get International Caps nowadays? and not the money cause they got paid pittance to play for their countries, it was the prestige of being an international footballer, can you imagine some of these highly paid nancys nowadays giving a feck about playing for their country when they must be banking near on 100 grande a week, they dont need prestige or the cap!!!They could buy every cap manufacture in the world on them wages.Hence the so many withdrawals from Interational squads that we are seeing nowadays.....too much money and no pride. Mathews,Finney,Moore,Ball etc must be wondering what the feck is going on
