I was in the chippy at lunch today pciking up me chips and gravy. A couple of cockneys were in there chatting about stoke. According to one of them stoke are in talks with Pardew with a view to making him the director of football at stoke. I nearly chocked on me fish cake when he told me!
All in serious would be absolutely gutted if this actually happened. Im hoping that this was abit of a wind up because I dont fink Pulis and Pardew would make a good cocktail. Has anybody heard anything else with regards to this and could you shed some light on this rumour

Would be amazed if it was true. Highly doubtful. Might be worth it just to hear Pardew encouraging Amdy Faye to "absolutely rape him!"

i think i'm going to be owed a few apologies now aren't i. I posted this a few hours ago mate and it got shit binned straight away. Mark my words, Pulis is on the shortlist (1 of many managers im sure) for Utd after Fergie goes. Curbishley and Pardew are being lined up in some format, whether they work together or not i'm not sure, neither was my source. This makes perfect sense as it will give Pardew time to get to know the club and players inside out before Pulis leaves.
I suspect a few more people will be choking on their fishcakes when Ferguson retires!

Maybe he could be director of football 'when the pitches firm up a bit' and we could get some one who isn't an utter c(_)nt when they're less firm.

The lads in there were convinced Pardew had been talking to stoke, but there was mention of Pulis leaving. He has done a very good job but I think Utd is a step to far for our tony. Altho I think curbs is a good manager

I was passed on this information though from a source who knows lots of people in high places within the game and he has never let me down with rumours before. We will see. Pardew seems a very sensible option for Rudge's (and eventually Pulis's) replacement

There might be something in this. I know Rudge's nephew and by all accounts he has been counting the days down to his retirement. As I hear it, Rudge has sometimes found it difficult to contribute much in the way of football direction because he naturally inclines to a different style of football than TP. He is 65 in October, so if he takes retirement this year then a replacement might be in order. Why not Pardew?

I was talking about Pardew and his ridiculous comment when we beat them at the Brit last season. It was a bit random unless you have the sort of memory that remembers things like that but can't remmeber where I parked the car 5 minutes ago and hold ridiculous long term grudges against people you've never met

He had a big long cry about it on several occasions last season and seems to consider himself some kind of purist.

Pardew as DOF and Pulis to United. I have never ever heard such rubbish in all my life!
Actually you know what, maybe us selling De Laet to Manure was part of their master plan to lure TP there

Pulis to Man U is clearly the stuff that bullshit is made of, but Pardew to replace Rudge has something believable about it. I'd be interested in what sort of person the club would want - Gerry Francis is part of the set-up now. Maybe this is a role that would suit him?

I don't fink Pardew is suited to the roll. The bloke ruined charlton and I could see him rocking the boat. Its obvious from what has been said on here that the position is available, i'd like to see maybe a alan curbishley or roberto martinez in the role

TP the next united boss ;D Somebody's on a wind-up...
If its true about Rudgey then i'd have thought they would look a bit closer to home - Gerry "the mullet" Francis perhaps? Surely a better option than that idiot Pardew anyway.

not sure if I read it on here or if someone told me but i heard that tp was gutted he didn't help pardew before he got sacked. apparently we loaning him some players but kept putting it off
would not be surprised to see him at the club even if it was only a megson/francis style appointment to get him back in the game

Leaving urban myths aside... could you honestly see Tone (and Uncle Peter) working with a conventional DoF? I couldn't, he needs too much authority for that. Someone like Rudge, a super-scout and admin support who knows all the older people in the game, seems to work pretty well for him and I would guess when Rudgie retires Tone will look for someone else in a similar mould, an Arthur Cox-type figure who's not going to threaten him in any potential power struggle.

i wouldn't be surprised if we saw ian holloway come to the club in some degree if he doesn't get another managerial job. much in the same way that gary megson did for a while
