It was only his momentum which carried him into the player. He was going for a 50 - 50 ball as he had every right to do. It was a penalty but in no way was it a sending off offence.

Agreed. Was a poor call, especially down 34-nil with 20 to go or whatever it was.

His and McCartneys were both poor decisions so both decisions to rescind them are correct.

I think so...it was a very harsh sending off...the refs are getting worser and worser by the day...although there are some good ones

Although it was a penalty. Torres seems to be very good along with Gerrard at leaving his leg trailing. Where the keeper hits it and he goes over.

Agreed. The red card was harsh, a bit too harsh.

I think goalies have a rough deal in a lot of instances ,as in Friedel's case they are making a genuine effort to get the ball , if the forward gets there first usually they make little effort to avoid the keeper, resulting in a penalty. I genuinely don't know what the keeper is supposed to do in these cases.

cant give a peno without sending him off, he was last man, you cant have an unintentional foul, u would have to play on?

For obvious reasons i'm pleased it has though.

Although it was a penalty. Torres seems to be very good along with Gerrard at leaving his leg trailing. Where the keeper hits it and he goes over. Although I agree that Gerrard is a cheating tossrag, I can't agree that Torres 'left his leg in'. There is not a chance that he could have avoided colliding with Freidel whilst keeping in control of possesion. cant give a peno without sending him off, he was last man, you cant have an unintentional foul, u would have to play on? Reo-Cocker was level with the pair of them. And of corse you can have an unintentional foul, 90% of all free-kicks given are for unintentional offences. In my opinion, it was a penalty and yellow card offence. I can see where the Ref's coming from sending him off, but this is a situation that needs common sense to prevail.

To be honest I think that even the penalty was dubious. I thought Torres first touch let him down and he took the ball too far so knowing he wasn't going to get to it he delibrately ran into Friedal looking for a penalty. You see this all the time in the Premiership. Sadly it is no longer the foreign players who are at it. Rooney and Gerrard are two of the worst divers and cheats in the league.
