The initial publicity for the project estimated costs at £5m. I got a letter from the club detailing the plans the other day which put the full project at £7m.
I guess the extra must include floodlights and a new dome down at the Mich which is all in the pipeline.
It should be up there with the best when complete.
Work has started in providing a grass training area alongside the current dome with floodlights to take the pressure off the indoor facilities that drive academy training for some of the younsters to as late as a 9pm finish. The target is 8pm latest finishing times and is one of the first inputs from Steve Holland who would like the kids and parents to actually have some life.

I hope we get a new dome and keep the old one. We'll be up there with the best if we have two domes! ;D
Seriously, what are the plans for the present dome site if/when the dome is moved to the Mich?

Plan PDFI didn't realise quite how many pitches they were going to build. Very impressive

the key though will be the investment in people: more (hopefully better) coaches, physios, admin staff, groundmen, tea ladies, the accomadation side e.t.c.
loads to do.
seems SCFC is on the ball though with all this
good stuff

Stoke City proactively investing in the future? Who'da thunk it a few years ago.

A good proportion of the cost related to this is actually in the carpet (that is the artificial pitch to you Cumbrian Hillbillies ;D). Our current one is worn to within an inch of its life and has been overtaken by later generations of astro-turf. The cost of moving the "tent" alone aint worth it. So I have been told anyway.

I see in the planning application that they mention that the current dome has a remaining life of up to 5 years and they expect to submit an application for an indoor pitch at the Mich comfortably within that timescale.

That probably ties in with my post relating to the total cost being £7m. I imagine the second phase involves the dome and floodlighting.
Where the first £5m is not dependant on Premier League income, I suspect the second phase may well do so.
