On Setanta Sports last night, Football Matters I think it is called, they had Neil Warnock, Stan Collymore and a journo from The Mirror on.
Collymore and the journo were saying Stoke are showing how to counteract the great divide between the divisions by playing big physical side and making it hard for teams to play, saying what everyone on here has said that WBA aren't good enough to outfootball other teams in this division. The journo said that Pulis should be in top three for manager of the year if Stoke stay up.
Warnock was saying he didn't think Stoke could keep it up, next season I think he meant. Collymore saying Stoke would buy better players next year, but Warnock said Pulis will never change his tactics, but would buy a backup for Rory, in case he got injured.

Same old Warnock. Now there's a man who really DOES hate Stoke.
Having said that, we are certainly not the first to adopt the tactics to survive. The classic example is Wimbledon who, not only survived, but carried it on for several years and continued to upset all the big boys with monotonous regularity. If anything, they were far more intimidating and over-the-top than us. We're 'pussy cats' compaired to that lot!

we will keep the same tactics while tony is in charge just have better players doing it
i see owt wrong with it
clubs who play football will struggle to replicate stoke style of play with the players they have

He did say that he didn't always get on with Tony, and was saying nobody wanted to play at Stoke, bumpy pitch(?) wind etc.

No doubt if you go down, they will say you cant stay up playing the phsical way. Basically they talk bollocks

Its just a change from the received wisdom that everyone who comes up has to alter there style and become the new Arsenal. They didn't mention Hull in that context as I suppose you come somewhere in the middle, not tip tappy but not the new Wimbledon, and don't quite fit their argument. They were saying that Phil Brown seems to have lost it however.

That's the first time I've ever agreed with you tiger, clubs like ours should ignore the praise and ignore the criticism. The pundits and so called experts are just jockeying for position so they can say, come the end of the season, how clever they are. Fortunately, many of us possess the remains of a memory and know the real story. Obviously the above does not apply to criticism of Brown though, he is a grade a bell end.

Basically they talk bollocks I think in the main you're pretty much bang on their ST, there are a lot of pundits sewing some seeds to protect their arses (ooh er !) at the moment, just in case Stoke do survive. However to be fair to Stan Collymore he has been one of the very few pundits who has consistently backed Stoke throughout the whole of the season.

Warnock is just a very bitter man. ON the subject of us bieng a template for teams coming up, i don't think other teams could do what we do with anywhere near the same ammount of success tbh. Teams like Wolves, Reading etc will not play the way we do because they don't have the players or the managers to do it successfully

We should be but because of how poorly we are portrayed in the media (except Stan), Hull will be unless they go down

One thing that's beyond doubt is that the supporters have become the template for how to support a newly promoted side.

They also looked at the sides in contention at the top and said which of those fits that way of playing and they thought Birmingham had kept most of their players from last year and were also a very physical side.

i think we started something by loaning premier reserve players to help get us up. Everyone slated stoke for that now every team at it.

What bollocks. For a start surely Bolton (or wimbledon as someone else mentioned) are the template and we have copied that to a large extent.
It's just a stupid oversimplification that pundits shouldn't be indulging in. the baggies were telling us all pre-season that you can't stay up with dinosaur tactics because the prem defences are too good to be caught out by long balls after they had been relegated playing that way a few seasons before. Now they are going down playing short passing football. It's not a rule that tactics A will work or tactics B will work - its MAKING tactics A or tactics B work.
We've made one extreme of the game work for us, and I'm sure that Mowbray's west brom side could have stayed up with the addition of better defenders and a decent finisher - its players they lack more than their style.
Edit: Rogue punctuation

Warnocks a sour cunt, always had been. Colin Wanker isnt his nickname for no reason. Just sour grapes because we got promoted and they lost to Dull. Collymore is possibly the best pundit on television though.
