if camara has gone back home for personal reasons how come he was named in the line up b4 the game tonight, that doesnt add up to me , if hes gone home surley he would have gone b4 the line up was announced? That's a pretty fair question in my book stokie63.

In all seriousness, Mama's injury sounds like it is still the effects of the previous problems.

just read on why deliah - Stoke were also without Sidibe's fellow striker Henri Camara tonight as he has been allowed to return to Senegal for family reasons - - so camara has problems back home which are probably serious (like i thought)
and also :- Stoke City striker Mama Sidibe was stretched off with a knee injury during the warm up to tonight's reserve game at Aston Villa. The injury is to his left knee, the same one he injured in December in a set back which kept him out of action for two-and-a-half months. Stoke are hoping the latest injury is not as serious, but will wait for the striker to be assessed tomorrow.
lets keep our fingers crossed then, mine are!

Morning! I didn't see the incident myself but Mama has suspected cruciate ligament damage. He went down in the warm up and was stretched off with splints etc around his leg to keep it in place. Initially, there was confusion as to whether it was Mama or Camara- sadly it was the former.
Speaking to Pughy after the game, he didn't sound at all confident Mama will play again this season and, if it is cruciate damage, he won't.

He's the lynchpin for Rory's throws because he's that strong two opponents in the box attempt to keep him under control giving the likes of Shawcross more room.
Massive massive loss. Get well soon Mama.

Obviously its devastating news for Mama and i wish him well but for me it could have been a lot worse if it was one of our other players out for the season. Mama clearly wasnt fit when he came back and in my opinion has offered us nothing since returning. Its also clear the Beattie / Mama partnership wasnt working and at least now we will see either a beattie / fuller of beattie / camara partnership for the rest of the season which is much more effective.

I agree if thats how Pulis would have used him (from the bench) its a big loss but i think Tone would have started Mama away from home with Beattie and at least now that cant happen.

God help us...i think we should recall Kitson after the 28 days rule

the deal we have in palce with Reading presumably will be heavily dependant on them getting promoted. Presumably Coppell sees Kitson as crucial to their chances of going up - bear with me - so maybe Stoke would think twice about jepordising that potential deal IF Camara &.....Cresswell are both available.
my guess is that TP will leave things as they are unless we get another injury/suspension/Bangoura situaition (i.e. Camara) .
anyway best wishes to Mama the best/worst striker ever.

I wasnt sure if we could or couldnt but it seems unlikely if we have negotiated a high loan fee which seems to be the case. Its a shame because i am convinced he has something to offer us especially if Mama is out for the season.

Sadly, he would offer us nothing as he doesn't want to play for us

I would have liked to have seen him play in a team with Etherington and lawrence in midfield, and to a certain extent Glen Whelan, I know i keep saying it but he was never played in a team with anything resembling a creative midfield.
But then again, if he doesn't want to be at stoke then it's pointless having him mopping around, probably do more harm than good having someone bringing everyone down.
I just pray that Mama's injury isn't as bad as first thought .

Agreed that we didn't really play a system that suited Kitson, but Cresswell played out of position for a whole season and got on with it and scored over 10 goals, Kitson appears a sulker not willing to put the effort in

Well lets just hope the Camara situation is exactly what they said it is, a family issue and he will be back for the Brazil game because the return ofCressie doesnt bare thinking about!
HOpefully Mama will be back but it doesnt sound good for this season

I watched about 5 minutes of the Palace v Reading match on Saturday night. Kitson showed more passion in that match than he has done all season for us.
I'd have liked to have seen him being supplied by proper wingers but, like Mat, I don't think his heart was in it.

It was a real shame it never worked out with him, but exciting to think we will have £5+M to spend on a new striker in the summer

It'll be interesting to see what'll happen if Reading don't go up - which is very possible.
There's no way on earth they'll be willing to spunk £3.5m+ on Kitson.
And will anyone but Coppell, with his knowledge of what Kitson can do at his best in an environment he likes and a club that will play him in his preferred role, give us a substantial fee for a bloke who'll be approaching 30 with a nightmare season behind him?

Can't see it being posted anywhere, but I swear on the 6 o'clock radio stoke bulletin that O'Connor said that he hoped that Mama would play before the end of the season!
