It is a live televised game as well. In previous seasons we have moaned about home games being televised because it cut the attendance. How times have changed! ;D

No we get a flat rate payment of several £million for ten televised games a season. Only if we get televised more than ten times (like ManU) would we get an extra payment per game.

Our crowds have been brilliant considering a lot have been live on Sky / Setanta & most have been streaming online.
Keep it up everyone, Newcastle should be the best atmosphere yet!

Every live televised game this season has been at home (?)
I'm annoyed on one hand, but pleased on the other as the rest of the country gets to see us at our best!
Goarrn Stoke!!!

It is because our away form is so poor that there wouldn't be much tension for the neutral - Just the Newcastle and Villa games where we staged a come back for a draw in the final minutes.
But at home we are always in with a chance of causing an upset - so both Sky and Setanta will give us a bit of air time. The other plus point for the TV companies is that they know the bear pit will generate an atmosphere unlike many of the Prem grounds.

So that leaves how many games to be televised out of the remaining fixtures? I didn't think we'd had many games shown so far this season, so there should be a bit of a glut towards the end then.

We won't reach the ten game mark. But we get the flat rate payment for any number of games up to and including ten.
