After we got a much needed win on saturday, i was pleased to see kelly doing quite well when called upon. Although nothing spectacular, he did at least seem to play more meaningfull balls forward than wilko does at times, he also mixed it up by playing balls inside whenever possible ,to build up play from those areas to. Good competion for places me thinks ! GOOOOAAAARRRRNNNN STOKE ! Keep it up !

As long as he does his job thats all that matters. The fact that he got in over our Club Captain makes me think that Griff will be off very soon then.

A far better display than up at Sunderland. Well done Stephen.

Ned was top drawer when he came on. Very dependable.

He looked like a proper fullback. And that was not an easy game to slot into. Well played, lad.

Not discernibly any better or worse than Wilkinson from where I sat.

I also thought he had a decent half, i like the way he is constantly over-lapping and giving the winger another option, seems to have a decent turn of pace and is a solid distributor, hopefully he can put in some more good performances when called upon, and then at the end of the season we could look at possibly signing him permanently as a squad depth player.

I thought that considering he hasn't played in a while and was making his home debut in a difficult game he did very well. He made everything he did look easy which is always a mark of a decent player. More to come, hopefully.

Had a decent enough match but he didn't half give their left winger a hell of alot of space at times by leaving him unmarked.

I think we've signed him permanently or at least taken over his contract. I think this because usually when you sign a loan player, the player normally keeps his squad number at his parent club which is not the case with Kelly as Stephen Carr has his number 2 shirt.

If we had signed him permanently or taken over his contract , why not say so? We did when we signed Diao for the second time a couple of season's back. I think his number was reassigned because we have loaned him to the end of the season - they can't recall him.

It's an interesting point that, but it doesn't confirm that we've signed him permanently. They could just have decided to give Carr his number as they know he'll be here until the end of the season (he can't be recalled) and they've already decided they won't be offering him a new contract. I was pleasantly surprised by him on Saturday after his mare at Sunderland. he did all he had to defensively well, and also got forward quite well.

We have agreed to sign him if we stay up, according to Karen Brady, which I presume we will stick to?

The quote was,
"And something does come of deadline day, after all. We’re allowed to take up a loan offer from Stoke for full-back Stephen Kelly, who couldn’t reach the Britannia Stadium because of the snow.
We receive £500,000 now with £250,000 at the end of the season if they don’t sign him and £1million if they do. Good business, I think."
So not dependant on us staying up but it will probably be the deciding factor.
