and predict the following teams will go down:
18 N'castle 19 M'boro 20 Brazil
I said Saturday's result in my opinion would make or break our season and now I believe that win will carry us through to safety. Come Arsenal we'll be already safe and we'll be able to travel down north London and have a fanastic relaxed boozed up weekend.

Hardly sticking your neck out!!
Brazil and Boro are fucked and Newcastle have got a stinker of a run in.
Stikcing your neck out would be predicting Bolton, Portsmouth and Chelsea to go down!!

I stuck my neck out 2 months ago by predicting Castle to go down. Not many agreed at the time but most of them do now!
Still might not happen of course and I won't get over confident but they really have got a shocking set of fixtures and if they stay up, they probably will deserve to.

Why shouldn’t we think that?
We are both down there in the thick of it.

Stating that Chelsea would go down would be plain thick! However, I do see your point, but as things are still so open for the teams in the mix still, I think predicting Castle to fall is sticking out my neck (a little admittingly).
Suttontiger, you might fear about your club being pulled into the mix over the next few weeks, but for myself I am not worried in the slightest about my Stoke.

We are far from safe but this weekend's results have sucked a few clubs right into the mix. Bolton, Hull and Sunderland are all in thick of the action now. Although a lot can happen in eight games, I reckon West Brom and Boro are pretty much gone and Newcastle have the worst run in of everyone. The return of Michael Owen could be crucial to them.
As things stand, I wouldn't like to pick who the third team to be relegated will be. The next two sets of fixtures sees a lot of relegation threatened clubs play each other and I think we will know more after them.

If that is what you believe I am not going to argue. You come on a Stoke message board, surely you are going to read some biased comments you would think in Stoke's favour. You continue to worry about your team, while I enjoy watching mine. Just one last reminder - We have never lost at the KC

The tiger is right - I think Pulis' main job now is keeping himself and the team from thinking we're safe - got to keep playing like our lives depend on it, especially at home.

I don't mind looking silly if it all goes tits up. Until that happens I am going to carry on being confident - as I've had almost a quarter of a century of not being confident and I'm fed up with that feeling! ;D
PS - I do agree that the team must not get over confident but that doesn't apply to the fans. Being confident doesn't stop me singing my head off every game. What would be really bad would be to support one of those (many) Premiership clubs which sound like a library most of the time.

I think you're spot on about the bottom 3, they have bigger problems than both of us. Its hard to see any of them saving themselves, Newcastle have been dreadful all season, and as for Owen he looked totally un-interested when we played them the other week, and him being dropped on Saturday wont have helped. I dont see him being a major factor.

To be fair, we're hardly doing cartwheels. We all know we're as much in the crap as any of the bottom 7 or 8.
But our fans and players are obviously in a much better place, psychologically, than Hull.
2 wins in 21 will do that to you.
Once the Hull bandwagon crashed after their win at the Hawthorns in October, they've almost been doing a Derby and it's going to be a hell of a slog for them now.
Still think we'll both just about do it though.

Still think we'll both just about do it though. People tend to think our problems started after Brown's public slating of the players at Man City, which obviously didn't help, personally I believe it was the January transfer window. Brown got things badly wrong here, Bullard was a risk that went wrong, but losing Marlon King was a bigger blow, and he never brought in a proper striker (Manucho is very green), and we are now paper thin up front. I said on a Hull messageboard that Beattie would be a great signing when we were linked with him. I was shot down in flames by people saying he was a championship palyer who just scores penalties. Think he's proving me right though

Sutton:
You'd LOVE him in your team!
He was a bit below par for him on Saturday but he has been awsome for us so far and I think he will be key to us staying up. Then 3.5 Mill will look like peanuts.

Sutton's right - no one in the bottom 9 teams should feel at all confident until they've got at least 40 points on the board ASAP. The whirlpool effect is starting to kick in, with teams higher up the league starting to feel the undertow when they drop points, like Hull and Sunderland did over the weekend.
IF - we can win the next 3 games, then there could be room to be confident by mid April - but a good run by say Boro, or Newcastle will thrust us back into it.
What we have on our side is a group of players who either a) have Premier League quality and can deal with the game at this level and/or b) went through the pressure cooker of a promotion campaign this time last year. That latter one is a valuable asset compared to what teams around us have in their lockers.
Oh and c) US! 26,000 howling mad Stokies on a matchday. ;D

I think Boro are certs now , Newcastle after looking at their run in can't see them picking up more than 9 points. So i think if we get 9 points we are safe.

At the moment that looks likely, but don't think for one minute that both of our clubs are'nt right in the shit Of course. But so are a fair few other clubs. Our quiet confidence comes from the fact that we look like picking up points at home: we've won three and drawn one out of our last four. With Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham and Wigan still to play, why wouldn't we be optimistic of picking up another, say, six points at The Brit? Our away form is still a MASSIVE concern, but we are West Brom's bogey team and therefore we have a very realistic chance of getting something there. Hull away will be extremely tough, but if we void defeat, I'd say, given your form over the last twenty or so games, we have got every chance of picking up at least one more point than you between now and the end of the season. You used to come on here making the fair point that although Hull were struggling to collect points, so were Stoke. It was a fair observation, of course. But we are now picking up points regularly and the thirteen point lead you had over us -which I thought we had no chance of bridging- has all but evaporated.

Lots of people on here are worrying confident, you could end up looking rather silly That's the thing about confidence ST ... it ebbs and flows. That's why at the moment we are VERY confident and you are praying that Newcastle have as big of a nightmare as possible. If we lose to West Brom & Newcastle then confidence will drop but until it happens how can we be anything other than confident when you see our home record and our voodoo spell over the Baggies. Add in all the other competitive fixtures we have left and the majority of us (at the moment) think we'll be fine. Like you, we've got time to get our excuses ready if things go belly up

We've got every right to feel confident. Newcastle and Blackburn will come to us knowing that only a win will do - We on the other hand know full well we can beat anyone at home. The players need to go into games knowing that we can win full of confidence!
