Here's my effort to the Sports Editor...
Sir,
I refer to the ridiculous match report written by "journalist" Jeremy Alexander reviewing the game at the Britannia Stadium this weekend. I feel that we as Stoke City supporters should unreservedly apologise to Jeremy for upsetting him with our "intimidating" support for our club that he described as "vulgarity."
I'm sure that we will also have to forward him a further apology once we confirm our Premier League status, to soften the blow of him having to possibly cover another Stoke home game surrounded by so many "Philistines." May I suggest that if he is to attend another of our home fixtures, he should perhaps bring his mummy and maybe his favourite teddy bear to keep him company?
I can only assume that the author has some childish vendetta against Stoke City, a point illustrated further through his dissection of Ryan Shawcross' post match interview. Now Ryan is a young man of 21, in his debut season in the elite league of English football and he is displaying a maturity beyond his years on the field of play. Did the author point to what a tremendous game the match winner had, or perhaps did the article go on to mention how great it is to have another up and coming English centre half with obviously a very bright future in the game? Of course he didn't, he chose to ignore those facts and concentrate on a young man's nervous answers in the press room. I wonder if the author is also so condemning of some of our other less eloquent young English players who turn out for some of the larger, more favoured clubs, such as a certain Wayne Rooney perhaps?
In fairness to Jeremy I imagine him to be a bit of a loner who has no real affiliation to his home town club and has never experienced life as a real football fan, and for that I pity him, as he will never feel the same emotions as the 25,000 Stoke City fans felt when Ryan headed Rory Delap's throw into the net to spark scenes of unbridled joy at the Britannia.
Sorry you didn't enjoy your day Jeremy, be safe in the knowledge that we all did though and if you never have to visit us again, rest assured your presence won't be missed.
Yours in red, white and vulgarity all over,
|

What a thoroughly objectionable man this Alexander is.
It's not often that a mere football match report allows you such a window into the mind of the sports 'journalist' and perhaps that's a bloody good thing if this is anything to go by.
As Momo says above, it's excruciating to watch him overreaching himself intellectually and ending up looking a complete berk. Fingernails on a blackboard stuff. Rolf Harris trying to be Leonardo da Vinci.
Sadly, I bet he hooted with delight as he typed out the final full stop on his Apple Mac and read back this pseudo-intellectual bag of bullshit. He'd clearly mapped out the majority of it by the time his train had reached Watford Junction on the trip up.
I hope he showered, twice, after his dealings with the hoi polloi.
