He and fuller are two of the strongest strikers in the league. Don't think Heskey gets booked for outmuscling defenders though And to answer your question, neither, Carlton Cole, because Capello's wise like that

Oh well, at least that means BT can focus 100% of his time and effort on Stoke. It's England's loss at the end of the day

If Beattie had been signed by any of the top 6 clubs and had scored as many goals as he has for us , then the broadsheets would have been clamouring for him to be called up for England duty.
Lets be honest...How many right at this moment in time would prefer Heskey to BEATTIE up front at the Britannia.
Surely he deserves at least another look at.?

Heskey has been excellent in recent England games (apart from Spain where everyone was gash).

Don't want him picked by England. I want him fit and focussed for Stoke. He can get back in the England fold next season. For now, if he was picked, he might at best get 5 minutes, and wouuld run the risk of an injury that we could do without.

I've never thought Beattie was England quality. Always felt he was a good striker in the league but international stage was too much for him. And so it proved when he played for England.
Heskey fulfills his role well. He is a bit awkward and a bit ungainly but it's a football team not a beauty contest.

Heskey, for two reasons a) he's used to playing for England, and i always want the best for my country and b) im selfish and don't want anything to happen to him injury-wise (same goes for Ryan)

actually I thought Heskey was pretty much our only threat away in Spain.
Carlton Cole though? worrying.
Owen & Walcott need to get fit - & in Owens case a new club - for 2010.
no one coming through either,Wellbeck looks a prospect but he's years & years off.

I think Carlton Cole's displays this year are worth a place. He looks more of a goal threat than Heskey, is quicker, and can hopefully develop the same hold up skills that Heskey has. In the system Capello wants to play, I think he could be an able deputy.

Capello will pick a side that get's the most from his best players. He has chosen Rooney and Gerrard as the two guy's that the rest will be built around. If you work on that basis, it's whichever one works best with Rooney.

Oi Stokies, what you talking about??? A Stoke player being a possible England international, and another prospect picked for the u21's???
Stokies, know your limitations. I remember losing 6-0 at Swindon like it was yesterday, and our super striker Dave Bamber scoring an own goal off a corner!!!!
Pulis out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rate Heskey, i think he is far more affective at international level than club level for some reason, rarely has a bad game for England, but if Beattie can continue finding the net for the remainder of the season i think he may have a chance of a call-up, i think Capello is the type of manager who would give a player a chance if he has warranted it.
