With the season tickets are the same price as last season and in the meantime VAT has come down has the net price of a season ticket gone up??

Theyve gone up in certain areas, for premium seats or something like that, but the VAT hasnt affected the prices mate

Exactly, if VAT had affected prices then they would be lower than last year, thus the NET price of a ticket has risen to compensate for the VAT being less

Yes, the net price of most seats has gone up by an amount equal to 2.5% of the VAT free cost last year. But families with children under 11 will pay less for their STs.

Don't you pay VAT on 'luxury' items, those things considered not essential, which excludes things like children's clothing, season tickets, etc?!

Not a critisism by the way as I think what the club have done is fantastic keeping the tickets last seasons prices, just having a debate with someone at work about it and wanted to make sure I have my facts right!!

Yes, Gaz, they have gone up. The government took 2 1/2% off VAT, equal to 15 billion into the economy so that we would have that little bit more to spend. It looks like SCFC, like many other businesses have simply pocketed the cash whilst still proclaiming they have kept prices the same. On a season ticket for an adult, that is equal to a rise of about a tenner. I don't know what affect the reduced revenue from the under 11's in the family stand is to balance against the increased revenue from the rest of the sales of ST's. On a very rough guestimate, I would think the club will pocket an extra £100,000+ from this move. Also, they have reduced the amount of people who could go on one direct debit to four when last season it was six. That won't affect most people but it just happens that the £20 I paid last season for extended payments is now £30 because I pay for six ST's. So, by calculating the VAT reduction that wasn't passed on and the extra tenner for the DD, I reckon this season will cost me an extra £40 for our ST's over and above what I would have paid had the club kept 'prices the same' and if they had used the same system of payments as last season.
I'll pay cash this time. Given the low rate of interest the banks are paying for instant access accounts, I reckon I'll be far better off in the long [six month] run.
