I have complete faith in TP keeping us up. We could be on the verge of being safe after the next 4 games.
BUT can he take us to the next level.
Its ok staying up but we dont want to become a team who is always on the verge of relegation. We have a chairman who is willing to back the manager but is the manager going to be able to take us to mid table and beyond in the premiership?

If he shows a bit more endenvour then yes. If sticks to his negative stlye of play then we are doomed

It is all very tight and as long as it is still in our hands that is the key.

I think he can do it
We seldom see the kind of relationship a chairman has with his manager in football like Coates has with Pulis
The problem nowadays is that if success isn't immediate then the manager takes the fall. Stability is the key in this league.
I don't think anyone could have predicted we would be in this position when Pulis took over for the second time.
Survival is the main aim for a couple of seasons as it then makes it easier to attract the type of players required to push on.
Similar to the situation with Wigan, they have established themselves as a half-decent premiership team and are now attracting players like Zaki who can take them to the next level.

TPs approach is always cautious and he has the view that we line up no to lose....thankfully we have a couple of exceptions and the Bolton game was a blueprint for how we need to approach ALL the remaining home games. We were comfortable against Bolton...mind you they looked absolute shite yesterday!

We cannot keep relying on our home form to keep us safe, sooner or later we are going to lose one. I really hope our lack of adventure away from home does,nt bite us on the arse.

We cannot keep relying on our home form to keep us safe, sooner or later we are going to lose one. I really hope our lack of adventure away from home does,nt bite us on the arse. That is the the worry and we have said all along that a couple of away wins would of taken the pressure off the home games. However the lads are just going to have to be as consistant in getting the points at home as they are spunking them away, away from home.

If I am honest there was no surprise yesterday, we came out slowly allowed Everton too much time and space and they took full advantage of it to take a comfortable 2-0 lead. The reason I am not surprised because it’s been virtually the same scenario all season. I am not suggesting we have been 2 down in every game but the allowing the opposition the ball and time to play has been. We only seem to play when we’re behind the eight ball and need snookers against Villa and Newcastle we have battled back and gained great acclaim for our never say die qualities but 90% of our away performances have got what they deserved nothing.
We suddenly find the attacking impetus when the game is all but gone and we have little choice but to take the game to the opposition. I just don’t understand the thinking behind this plan, why can’t the players take the field with same motivation they leave it with. We were battering Villa and could even have won the game so you would have thought the confidence from that second half and the great display in beating Bolton would finally have convinced the manager that we are a far more dangerous side when we push on and take the game to sides.
The debate about is the manager learning has been brought up, well at home he seems to have confidence in his side to take a game to sides yet away he seems terrified of getting a hiding. I am not sure he is learning away from home, he seems to say the same thing each game and yet the next one begins exactly as the one before. I just think he’s still in awe of the names on the opposition team sheets and the name of the clubs we’re playing when we go on the road. He will need to lose that attitude next season if we stay up because we wont get away with such a negative approach two season in a row and simply rely on home form.
I honestly believe we will take the game to both Hull and the Baggies simply because he will see us as being on a par with or slightly superior to them and therefore wont have the same fear factor. Sorry Tony, we have shown when you play a more attacking formation with players who want to take the game to the opposition we are capable of causing better sides than Hull or the Albion problems.
The next home game is archetypal 6 pointer that is thrown about whenever sides at the top or bottom meet at this time of year. Though this really is that important a win and we will put real breathing space between ourselves and the bottom two and while it wont relegate Middlesboro it will go a long way to denting their confidence and with other results falling for us take us again out of the bottom three. It’s a game where we need to be brave, adventurous and shake Middlesboro on the pitch and from the terraces. There has to be no let up from the supporters, we have to make their players feel like they have walked into the jaws of Hell and the only way out is to crawl away on their stomachs with their tails dragging the ground after a humiliating defeat. Fuller from the start has to be the game plan, he and Beatie carry such a threat and Middlesboro will be quaking in their boots.
Everton is gone, didn’t really expect more than we got for many reasons but I fully expect 3 points against Middlesboro anything less and we are in deep trouble now matter how optimistic we are. I am confident we can gain enough points from our remaining home games to survive but 4 points on the road would make me feel so much better about going to Arsenal on the last day and not needing to win.

Look at the next few fixtures.
Most of these games are six pointers that must be won, and we are well capable of winning them.
Roll on Saturday.

The team we lost to yesterday are the type of team we should aim to become. I am utterly confident we can stay up and build further to become a team like Everton or Wigan.

Which is why we will not survive. The pressure to continue to win at home particularly to those teams around us becomes immense ans we will crack at some point. TPs inability to see its not working away from home is baffling and his reluctance to change it even more so. It will cost us bigtime.
