It's a new experience for him, only having managed in lower leagues. To me we have improved overall, in that we look fairly comfortable in home games. It seems to me the away form is more problematic. I think his natural caution is getting the better of him, and he doesn't see that a more adventurous approach will pay dividends in the end. We have a team at least equal to Hull and WBA but our away form is shocking in comparison, especially to Hull. So it isn't the standard of players, its the tactics, he needs to learn.

Could the Liverpool away game have set a dangerous pattern, that we have persisted with everywhere else regardless of the quality of the opposition?

In the Championship most of his signings did well. In the PL, it's been a lot more hit and miss with his transfer record. That's one point where he'll need to improve.

He has cracked how to win at home....but really hasn't learnt a thing about how to get something from our travels and we are at the fag end of the season....People talk about our improved 2nd half performances. That has more to do with the opposition taking their foot off the gas and cruising 2 or 3 up allowing us to improve our game.

If Hull had had the luck we had that day they would have won, because they have the balance between defence and attack right and would probably have nicked a goal. Phil Brown love him or hate him does have more experience of the EPL and knows you can't just defend.
