I reckon that pen takers should not be allowed to hesitate momentarily in their run-up eg Ronaldo, and one of those in Rome tonight. A pen is an uneven contest anyway, and hesitating gives even greater advantage to the taker. Law 14 deals with penalty kicks, but surprisingly does not refer to 'hesitating'.
Still, I wont mind if BT hesitates before potting the winner on Saturday!

I agree, it's just not sportsmanlike.

Tbh, I can see what you're saying but I don't think there's much that officials can do about it imo and naturally, the kicker is obviously going to try and give himself as much of an advantage as possible, which is fair enough. However, I find that often, this hesitation can put themselves off, proven by Ronaldo in the past as he's not exactly prolific from the penalty spot. Also, if hesitating did get banned, this would open questions to whether or not the goalkeepers should be able to do a 'Grobelaar' and a 'Dudek' with their funky little spaghetti legs as there's no doubt that this puts the players off and gives the keeper a slight advantage as well. It's swings and roundabouts tbh but imo, it's up to the kicker and goalkeeper what they choose to do and as soon as we put restrictions on it, it's going to get a bit daft tbh

Place the ball on the spot and don't look at anything else. The ball might move but the goal won't....you know where it is. You should have already decided where to put so you stick with that decision. Eyes fixed on the ball hit it hard and low and well the keeper will have to do something reamarkable special to save it.

When Grobelaar did it, it was all before the ref had blown his whistle for the pen to be taken so he could do what he liked. In those days once the whistle had been blown the 'keeper wasn't allowed to move. Nowadays they're allowed to bounce around along the line.
