Was thinking the other night just how many regular players that pick themselves really.
Sorrenson
Wilko
Shawcross
A.D Faye
Higgi
Delap
Beattie
Fuller
Mama
Surely good enough to stay up?.............And coupled with the likes of Whelan, Lawrence, Etherington and Amdy Faye we have a pretty decent team. Never actually thought just how many good players that we have until i actually sat down and thought about it in how many players actually pick themselves.
Having said that COME ON Fulham.

Wilko is fully worth his place at the minute. He's been excellent in the last 4-5 games.

i'd disagree about Mama as well. He was pants against Bolton, so how he picks himself I'm not sure.
You missed Cresswell out

id rather have Davies at right back than Wilko....
Wilko is rash & cant distribute a ball for all the Craig in David.

yes i have....
i was also there when we played Reading reserves in the league cup, where he got that bad i jokingly cheered EVERY single misplaced pass...
after the game, on reflection he didnt complete a single pass ALL game...
i'm sorry, but Wilko is shit... the majority of our goals conceeded seem to come from his mistakes, whether direct or a knock on effect..

Wilko has IMO been by far our most improved player over the past couple of months and is developing into a very good Premiership full back. His distribution could be better but what he lacks in finesse he certainly more than makes up for in work rate and commitment. He has been superb against some world class opposition, and has started to offer more of a threat going forward as his confidence has grown. He is Stoke through and through and I think it is fantastic to see a local lad doing the business and loving every minute of it. I'm not saying he should be picked because of the fact he is a Stoke lad, but it is certainly a massive bonus to have that kind of commitment and passion in the team, and I find it hard to believe anyone would criticise his recent performances. His place in the team is absolutely justified, and I think it would take one hell of a player to shift him right now.

Do you not agree he's been playing well recently though? The last bad game I can remember him having was Spurs away. I thought he was man of the match against Pompey, Villa and very good against Bolton.

Davies the centre back who whenever he's played has looked off the pace and a bit shite? Yes he hasn't had full fitness but I'd rather see Kelly, Griff and Delap at right back over Davies if I'm being honest!

well Kelly ive not seen play yet...
so he could be a top player.
I just feel he gets picked out as the weak link in the defence... for people to say he's the most improved is rediculous when you have Shawcross going from strength to strength, week to week...

Both have improved significantly, Shawcross more so I agree but Wilko to me looks like a comfortable Premier League full back. His passing is improving unlike a certain left back at the club too!

Not many RB's will keep Ashley Young as quiet as he was when he played us. Wilko had him in his pocket all game

He had Ronaldo in his pocket and through his good defending, Ronaldo should have walked but we all know how that ended

Wilko is a solid defender, Stoke through and through to boot, and, yes, he has got much better of late, but I am still not sure he is of the necessary quality long-term. Maybe Tone has some doubts too, so brought Kelly in to look at him.
We need ball-playing full-backs as so much play these days goes through them - if you have hoofers like Wilko and Danny, it is hard to build play from the back, which we must try to do a bit more if we are to progress.
Back to the original post - I'd say our guaranteed, if fully match fit they play players are only, at present:
Sorensen Abdoulaye Faye Ryan Shawcross Danny Higginbotham Rory Delap Salif Diao (even if only Tone agrees) Matty Etherington James Beattie
I'd personally add Ricardo, but Tone seems to still be persevering with the twin battering rams (BT and Mama) with Fuller as supersub, even though I don't think the two big lads work well together or offer enough variety.

I think he's looked very comfortable since the Spurs game. He's been getting forward too. Solid defensively and improving his passing and his forward game all the time. That alone has impressed me, as I didn't think he would improve his passing but in the last few games we've seen that improvement. Higgi on the otherhand still hoofs it at it every opportunity and is a bigger concern for me regarding it.
Think is Jezza, Kelly has come in and done bugger all and Wilko gets picked ahead of him. The lad hasn't been hoofing it half has much since Lawrence came on the wing and they have looked dangerous together down the right.

I would say Delap is fifth choice midfielder behind Lil' Faye, Whelan, Ethers and about level with Lawrence actually (at the mo)

No you don't. You've just said he is shit and to blame for most of the goals scored against us, and that isn't what Jezza is saying.
You are either on a windup or have not watched the last 10 games.
