I'm sure some of you knew already but I've only just noticed that Trevor Benjamin is currently playing for little old Kidsgrove. It's a fair fall from grace for the player who was so highly rated at Cambridge (alongside Kitson?) about ten years ago. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7923662.stm

Can't be much older than Kitson - Would have thought he'd still have something to offer a league team. Wasn't he at Smallsall not so long ago?

Just to let you know, Kitson didn't play with Benjamin at the Abbey Stadium.

Wasnt it Tom Youngs that played alongside Kitson at Cambridge? Knowles

Cracking memory! I seem to remember it was, together with Martin Butler.

Awesome, he was at Hendesford earlier this season so I doubt he'll be at the Grove for too long if that stint was anything to by.. If they're at home tomorrow, or not too far away, I might go and watch as I know a few of their lads anyway.

A true journeyman, had spells at over 20 (!) clubs.
Surely he could offer something over at Hamil Road?

Looks like Martin Butler is going to help Burton back into the league though. He was another player we were linked with on a few occassions.
The Benjamin story (Trevor, not Button) is an interesting one. He's always seemed to do fairly well wherever he has been but never settled. I'm sure he is still capable of producing the goods in League Two but perhaps it is his mental attitude that is the problem.

Watched him three times in the last month, i think he is thirty, says he just wants to start to enjoy his football again, he looks better with each game, and will do a great job at the Athletic, i watch Kidsgrove whenever i can as i go Stoke home and away, but love to get back watching real football ,where you can actually smell football and there is no cheating , diving and bullshit. if it was not Stoke, it would always be Kidsgrove for me

How've they managed to afford him though? I thought they were a right state with their finances and he must be on a fair wedge?

What went so wrong for him, was he just never as good as he promised to be? Or could Kidsgrove not get Pericard to agree terms?

Trevor Benjamin & Martin Butler's falls from grace both mentioned in the same thread - now what sort of manager would have wanted to sign them I wonder...?
