Stoke are evens now with them to stay up. For non-betting folk, it means they now reckon we have a 50/50 chance of staying up.
It also means that they have made themselves to look stupid by paying up bets after the first match. ;D

i hope we end up costing them a fortune! I boycotted betting with them the day they paid out on that ludicrous publicity stunt...if other stokies did too, that must've cost em a bit

I wish you were right Alan.
The amount of people I know who had never heard of Paddy Power before they paid out on that bet is ridiculous. As much as I disagreed with what they did, have to tip my hat to them, good publicity stunt.

They wouldn't dared show that kind of disrespect to the likes of Man U. To them we were just an easy target. Wankers

Wouldn't have got more publicity had they advertised in between breaks of Coronation Street and at a fraction of the cost too.

i dont think this is anything to do with Stoke as a football club it was just a very good PR stunt. I dont think they just paid on us in any show of disrespect but they do these kind of stunts every so often. Im sure there was piss all money on us getting relegated and the few grand payout is nothing compared to the exposure they got as a result. Im sure they had a list of 5-6 teams with us, Hull, Brazil, Bolton etc that had anyone had a bad result they would payout on them getting relegated.

Well how many people would have backed us to go down because i know an awful lot of football fans who are in the bookies more often then not and not one of them had seen ANYONE back a club to be relegated as its a bet that has shite odds and takes 9 months to cash in so i doubt Paddy Power would have payed out much TBH

henry, paddy power tip us to go down, and then only offer 5-2 to stay up, typical bookies, steer clear of the robbing b's.

i think most gamblers were aware of paddypower b4 they used us a cheap publicity stunt. they first started to do it by paying out early on the shit for the title. iwonder what there next masterstroke will be? the three promoted teams out of the championship this year to go straight back down?oh hang on i might agree with them on that one!

its great when things like that backfire, they pulled off a great little pr stunt and one that got them a few headlines, but it wont half be funny when them headlines show they paid out money when they didnt need to. priceless

henry, paddy power tip us to go down, and then only offer 5-2 to stay up, typical bookies, steer clear of the robbing b's. Well 5-2 means they reckon if everything stayed constant Stoke would probably stay up twice in 7 attempts. That equates to about 28% so surely if you thought something had a 28% chance of happening you would tip it not to happen either as there is 72% the other way no? EDIT - PS Who's got the signature way too big - change it please thx
